A tongue tied Barack Obama shook off a few early lapses, gathering up steam like a downhill locomotive.

"The fundamental truth – that here in America our destiny is not written for us but by us"

The great orator took a few lines before breaking into an uneasy stride along the backstretch, probing, questioning, dragging into the light his opponents lack of concern over topics such as economic tyranny and corrupt old boy networks.

"He’s (Senator. John McCain) spent a decades in Washington supporting financial institution instead of their customers"

Obama, seriously at risk of being upstaged by big-shot politico’s NY Senator. Hillary Clinton and NM Governor. Bill Richardson pulled it together just in time to make an observation about Sen. McCain’s lack of firm footing on the issue of regulation/deregulation. Desperately trying to topple "lipstick on a pig" as his campaigns catchphrase Obama cut the corner, passed the field and began to head home.

"John McCain can’t decide whether he’s Barry Goldwater or Dennis Kucinich"

The crowd roared in approval!

Really, who does this guy think he is?

He’s a "maverick," an "outsider," he’s John McCain and he stands for, whatever will get him elected?

The Barackstar who has become somewhat of an expert in the use of adlibs asked off the cusp if anyone happened to notice that John McCain was stealing his line.

"I’ve been talking about change for two years now"

"Talked up change when we were up, talked about change when we were down"

"John McCain, I thought he was running on experience?" "Right, remember that?"

"Suddenly he’s got in his ads, the change we need" "He’s starting to talk about turning the page"

"I guess imitation is the best form of flattery"

"But, well, you know what I want? I want him to steal some of my ideas"

"Change isn’t just a slogan, it’s having some ideas to push the country forward"

And then it came, suddenly, without warning, faint, crash, boom, Obama’s opportunity to shine.

Although you won’t find this in the official transcripts during the last few strides of Obama’s New Mexico meet, a patron fainted bringing the very average speech to a prompt halt but Obama pressed forward in a manner that has become completely foreign to the office of President over the past thirty years. Compassion, kindness and a deep rooted concern for the overall well being of all American’s whether colleague or constituent, attendee or absentee, Wall street or Main street.

"Hold on"

"What do we got here?"

"Someone faint?"

"Alright, well, that happens sometime"

"They should be ok" "Give them a drink, give them some air and will get an EMT person up here real quick"

"Let them, let them just stay on the ground though, let them just sit down, don’t stand them up, someone will come get them"

"They’ll be alright, they’ll be alright"

"Just wait tell the EMT folks come, don’t let them stand-up cause their probably dizzy right now"

"No, no, if we can get a stretcher up here their should be somebody from EMT..."

Obama picked up right where he had left off, leading the good train hope into the station. Thursday in Espanola, New Mexico was certainly not one of Obama’s better oratory performances but this half-hour interview for the position of President of the United States revealed to the public a side of Barack Obama that could never have been seen through any stack of Washington accomplishments.
