President Barack Obama Lays Wreath at Ground Zero on May 5, 2011

US President Barack Obama laid a wreath at the 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero in lower Manhattan on May 5. The ceremony comes four days after the announcement that Osama bin Laden, architect of the 9/11 plot, was killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Below are some photo highlights from the ceremony. Obama also spoke with police officers at Manhattan's First Precinct, which provided some of 9/11's earliest responders; and with firefighters at the Midtown Firehouse, which lost 15 of its men on September 11, 2001.
