Yesterday, Jay Carney, the White House’s press secretary irritatedly proclaimed that the President was digging in his heels on his decision not to extend Bush tax cuts for those he considers to be rich. When reporters pressed further, Carney got huffy to say the least, as though he was tired of answering that line of questioning. This was Obama’s response to a continually fledgling economy, but there is more.
Incredibly, today the White House announced that it will be seeking to hire half a million federal government jobs back in order to make a dent in the failing unemployment figures. In what is assuredly a political move, the President, against all rational thinking, would rather hire on 500,000 employees that will be paid for by taxes at a time when the government has already strapped on 5 trillion in deficit spending in little more than 3 years with no relief in sight. Why, to temporarily make the unemployment statistics improve in time for the presidential election. At what cost to American society? I ask.
Chris Matthews blames American employers for withholding trillions of dollars to reinvest into the American economy so that they can make President Obama look bad. Consider the logic of such rationale by Matthews, as leftist as any reporter can get. With the current corporate tax level at 35% the highest in the world, why would American companies want to bring their capital into the United States just to get taxed more severely than in any other jurisdiction on earth? Their stockholders would be outraged! That American corporations don’t want to subject their assets to higher taxes is one thing, but the fact that Obama’s lack of economic expertise and unwillingness to compromise, indicates the lack of faith American companies have in the future of the US economy under Obama’s flawed stewardship. That absence of confidence speaks volumes for how our current economic recession can be attributed to the failure of federal government policies.
The ego of President Obama knows no limits. He will sacrifice sound fiscal policy and the welfare of his own country by enacting insane fiscal policies just for the sake of getting re-elected. Despite how badly the impact upon Americans could be felt, this seems to matter very little to a President driven by his own vanity! Hiring 500,000 federal employees back will only create a deeper deficit, leaving a bigger government footprint in the American private sector as more home owners default on their mortgages. Obama’s move will inevitably lead to higher taxes at a time when a greater percentage of the American work force is unemployed than at any other time in the last 23 years.
Yet, in all this when called out on the current relentless unemployment rate in America, President Obama blames Congress for not passing his 50 billion dollar jobs bill. Last year during a time when his administration had already surpassed the debt limit and has still refused to come up with a budget plan, Obama blamed Congress for their reluctance to raise the debt ceiling when it was out of control Democrat spending that was responsible for approaching the debt ceiling to begin with.
The truth is, what we have is a White House that cannot solve the jobless problem in the US while refusing to take responsibility for their failure. While demanding more deficit spending as a faulty solution to an economic climate where jobs are scarce, the future under the present leadership does not look promising. America under the rule of a rigid ideologue has not faired well. This is exactly what can be expected under a government that spends beyond its means in pursuit of social engineering. When politics take priority over sound principals that reflect concern for Americans, this is what we get: high unemployment, huge deficits, not to mention moral bankruptcy.
The office of the presidency is the most crucial position in the American government. It requires the full integrity of the individual who occupies the oval office. That leader should, above all else, value his country first, and foremost above his own desires and ambitions. Yet, President Obama has shown time and again his propensity for egocentric decision making. In doing so, not only has he compromised the interests of the nation, but has been christened with the conspicuous absence of justification for his nonexistent achievements by the UN (Nobel Peace Prize) and any number of leftist organizations blinded by their own destructive ideology. Can you say paper tiger?
