NP Rank:
Obama, Omaha, and Murdered Children
I was called a “hater” in my last YouTube video called “A Question for Obama”. I wanted to take a moment to explain why I am so angry and frustrated with Mr. Obama.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
It seems to me that the Obama movement is full of Americans who appear disenfranchised, frustrated, and many times, somewhat hopeless. This probably describes the majority of us at one time or another- but what bothers me is that people seem to buy into Obama much like a lottery ticket- full of the taste of hope and promise until the day they discover that they didn’t have the right numbers and that piece of paper they held in their hand wasn’t exactly their key to finally living the good life as much as they hoped.
One thing that angers me about Obama is pretty much one of the reasons why I am mad at the oil companies- he is getting rich off of people who, because of the times, can afford it the least. The millions of dollars that are flowing into his campaign are mostly from donors who can barely afford to feed their children. Albeit these donors have their own responsibility for their actions, the fact still remains that saying you care about the people while at the same time filling your campaign with millions of dollars while your constituates starve seems contradictory. These are not the actions of the New Messiah of American Politics who is here to lead us to the Promised Land but more of a false Prophet- or a politician running for office, especially considering, for many Americans, it has become a choice of food OR medication OR gas, OR donating.
The inherent problem I have with Obama is what happens after the people, who have pinned all their hopes and aspirations on ONE man, are ultimately failed- as they inevitably will be- for no one can be all things to all people all the time, even for someone who promises miracles, and the American economy and the Iraq war are not the only serious issues facing us as a people.
The biggest threat facing America right now is the loss of the honeybee. From what I understand, right now California is having problems with people stealing farmers honeybee’s because their doesn’t seem to be enough. Without honeybees, there is no pollination, without pollination there is no food. Albert Einstein himself theorized that if man were to be separated from the honeybee, he would starve within four years.
California's economy is based on their ecosystem. It is also a fact that if California were to break away and declare itself its own country, it would be the fourth richest nation in the world. Most of that wealth is not from the Hollywood industry nor the Silicone Valley but from agriculture. If California experiences a decline in agriculture, it WILL negatively impact America. As a result, we would see an unprecedented rise in hunger- the same hunger many others around the world are already in the throes of. What is going to happen when the nation as a whole starts to know hunger and Obama is unable to rescue us? George Bush is a perfect example of the fine line between having the support of the American Public and being held responsible by them. When the charm diminishes with the newness, there had better be some substance to take its place- or else chaos fueled by a nation that has already become increasingly angry and desperate is sure to follow.
I don’t agree that what is happening in this country is some sort of Obama phenomenon. We as a nation were already changing- a fact which was inevitable considering the massive decline of our society in economic and personal securities. Our desire for change was shown in the shakeup of the House and Senate that resulted from our votes. All Obama has done is take claim for this change, asserting himself with leaders like JFK and Martin Luther King Jr., perhaps because he has no defining accomplishments of his own. What sets him apart from those men is that they did not promote themselves through the accomplishments of others, although it is my opinion he has a ways to go before he should start comparing himself to the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. who, may I remind everyone, concluded his “I Have a Dream” speech with the wish that one day, race would neither be an attribute nor a detriment but would simply be a non-issue. To be touted as the first Black Presidential Candidate in American History and then quote Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” seems contradictory and, in my opinion, somewhat insulting to Dr. King’s message.
I am not going to buy into the groupthink of Obama any more than I bought into the groupthink of the Iraq War, and unfortunately, I think choosing Obama could be as costly. This may be a bad example- but I doubt if Donald Trump was looking for a new CEO for one of his companies he would go looking in the mail room. This might have worked in the movie The Secret of My Success- but George Bush’s last eight years have shown us the harsh reality the consequences of such a choice can bring. Some may say that it means he isn’t jaded like all the others, but, on the same hand- it also means he also has nowhere near the experience.
America- as well as the rest of the world- is too unstable for someone to test their theories on how the world should work. Unless Barry and his followers actually believe the world is just going to fall in love with the charm and the ideologies of the Obama Phenomenon, which I don’t believe is going to happen no matter what color he is, we need more of a plan than “Yes We Can”. America also needs a president that isn’t going to sell out.
I fully admit that I am angry and hurt with Mr. Obama. I went to him really believing he could help me in my quest for justice for a group of children who were abducted, raped, and tortured to death in unspeakable ways, and although I had no idea what to expect or if I could expect anything- I certainly didn’t expect him to turn his back and sell out to the very people who are working to prevent this from being investigated. I have never been “involved” in politics, and have always tried to adhere to the “be in the world but not of it” policy, but I also believe in the importance of community, and as I have said before, I believe we as a society must start holding our leaders accountable for what they do. I am simply trying to walk the walk and do what I preach- no matter how unpopular it makes me.
Honestly, I believe that the change that has gripped Americans and inspired us with the breath of hope that the future could be a far richer and more compassionate experience than we currently expect has less to do with Mr. Obama’s presidential campaign and more to do with the rise and influence of our female leaders. I think that the influence women are having not only on American politics but World politics as well is what is inspiring us to reach greater heights more so than any focus on race, and in the end, it will be the mother’s who help heal the world. God knows this world needs some healing.
For many years, I have actually despised Hillary Clinton- not because I knew anything about her politically or personally but because she reminded me, in a way, of a upper scale version of my stepmother, who I have issues with. As a result, I saw Hillary as a bitch who did what she wanted to further her desires and career-which seemed to be her only concern. For all I know- this could still be true- but something happened that made me take a second look at my opinion.
When the press attacked Chelsea, it was watching the mama grizzly bear in Hillary that made me rethink my stance. It began with Hillary- who stood as a parent protecting her child, (which is something I personally never had), but later I began to think on Chelsea. Here is a girl who grew up in the white house- with power and privilege and the power to get pretty much anything she commanded, and instead of being a Paris Hilton- spoiled and self serving- she is gracious, down to earth, and caring. I realized that this could not be the result of anything other than growing up with great parents. Regardless of what could be said about either Hillary or Bill professionally, politically, or personally- one fact is undeniable- for a country constantly clamoring about family values and the importance of a strong family unit, with everything they have gone through- facing trials and tribulations very few families will ever experience in any of their lifetimes, it is undeniable that the Clinton’s are an example of incredible parents- and Chelsea stands as a testament to that. Regardless of whatever unwarranted personal prejudices I have against her- this stands true regardless, and if she will stand up for her own child- maybe- just maybe- she will stand up for other’s children as well.
These children deserve justice, and their families deserve closure- no matter who was responsible or how powerful they are or were. More than that- it is time. Mrs. Clinton- I implore you- please, keep fighting until it is over, and after you win- please make this possible. And Mr. Obama- if America is unfortunate enough to wind with you as our new leader, please understand, this quest for justice means far too much for me to ever let this go- and as Omaha’s illustrious mayor will tell you, I won’t stop, and I won’t be that easy to just deal with. People can change the world- we just have to have the desire and will to do it. I assure you- I do.
