Obama orders base killings probe
The measure comes after US intelligence authorities revealed they knew Maj Nidal Malik Hasan had been in contact with a cleric sympathetic to al-Qaeda.
While the FBI had previously dismissed these contacts as not warranting further investigation, President Obama ordered a full scale inventory and review of all intelligence in the US govt. files regarding Major Hasan, as well as an assessment of how the intelligence was handled, shared, and acted upon within individual departments and agencies, and an identification of what intelligence was shared with others.

This is an excellent move by President Obama. Only a neutral agency can get to the bottom of this travesty. Those that didn't act need to be held to account.

Officials Say Fort Hood Suspect Had Islamist Ties - Ben Conery, Victor Morton and Jerry Seper, Washington Times. Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had been in contact with numerous Muslim extremists - some of whom are under federal investigation - before last week's rampage.Maj. Hasan made some of the contacts while visiting known jihadist chat rooms on the Internet, according to one of The Times' sources, a senior FBI official. He said that several people with whom Maj. Hasan was in contact had been the focus of investigations by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force. The other source, a military intelligence official, said those in contact with Maj. Hasan are located both in the US and overseas. The official said they are "broadly known and characterized as Islamic extremists if not necessarily al Qaeda." Both officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case, said some of the names of those with whom Maj. Hasan was in contact will likely be released soon. The FBI official said that could happen during pending congressional hearings into the massacre. These ties are in addition to Maj. Hasan's already-reported links to radical Imam Anwar al-Awlaki, who called Maj. Hasan a "hero" on a blog post about last week's Fort Hood shooting, which left 13 dead and 29 wounded. The military intelligence official said, "Those connections, except for Awlaki, could be explained innocently. But all of them together form a very concerning picture."

The probe is America is using Muslims to fight Muslims....Now that is sick and criminal...not Major Hasan.
.The US plays the same song and dance routine in uising Muslims to kill Muslims like they used Iraq to fight Iran.. What is it with the American system of violence.... You all call the Major a murderer for defending his country and people......and do nothing when Bush murders a million innocent people in Iraq...and thousands more in Afghanistan... I say the Major is a brave Hero.... If not better than the Shoe Guy in Iraq.... You pig Military punks get away with rape, and murder of people in Iraq and you really blame the Major? You led him to it.... He was defending himself.... God Bless Major Hasan.

"He was defending himself." ??????
The people he killed were attacking him?
"Bush murders a million innocent people in Iraq"
a million, eh? Seriously?
Any "proof" of that? A million is a lot of people. Even Saddam Hussein never managed that, unless you include the tally from his war with Iran.

He was defending himself toward stopping them. You attack someones religion and identity, you are attacking him.
