Obama - photographic forensics - "Graduation" and "Red Faces".

First in a series of stories concerning "Official" photographs released by the Obama Administration and Campaign.

The Man Beneath: The Edited President

In most all cases of Digital manipulation of photographs there remains locked in the color layers of the image forensic evidence pertaining to portions of the picture which have been removed or added to. This treasure trove of information can range from mere evidence of an undefined type of innocent manipulation to actual full complete portions of original images which have been layered over when falsifying an image.

In the photograph released by the Obama administration as a representation of his 1979 Graduation from Punahou High School in Hawaii we find many fragments of digital manipulation. Included are various images which reveal some of the edits which have been made to this official photograph prior to its release. All original photographs of Obama in this coming series have been taken from http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/mediaphotos_old/   (unless otherwise noted) They were downloaded in May of 2011.  The web site requests the following be posted when using these pictures. ~Story Under Construction~

The First image contains an overlay which began as two "Identical" Obama graduation Images both having been color shifted in different ways. The "Red Face" image underneath and the "Top Faces" image on top. These two images started as the same size but were adjusted, as to allow for a better visual reference, and with cut out in the center for visibility.

The other color changed images posted as single (non layered) images have only had one color edit to them to reveal the odd coloration shifts (the single "Red Faces" Image had two color edits).

Notice how the face coloration and focus pulls forward with a single color edit in the "Top Faces" image.

In the "Original" Obama graduation picture notice the "whited out" person behind Principal McPhee in the Obama picture.


Compare images of Rod Lurie (Director / Producer), graduation of 1980 and the Obama graduation 1979. Note:  Obama is said to be 6' 1/2" to 6'1" tall, Lurie though not documented in height is roughly the same height. In pictures Lurie ranges from taller than Christian Slater and roughly the same as Jeff Bridges in height ( 5'8 1/2" to 6'1") and in pictures he is the same height as Brian Goodman (director) who is listed as 6'2". So the question here is why does Obama appear so much taller than Roderick F McPhee?? Yet Lurie appears only slightly taller? Camera angles and lenses can not account for such a drastic size difference. 

The following needs confirmed, which for persons in Hawaii it should be quite easy. We can assume that Punahou had a dress code in both 1979 and 1980 (note all the students in the Lurie photo in the front row), and we can assume that Luries photograph reveals that dress code to a great degree, which consisted of Navy Blue sport coat with pockets, white shirts, Gold striped ties and Khaki pants. Notice Obama has a Black sport coat, further to head off rationalizing a natural color shift towards black of the coats due to lighting, compare the color of blues, reds  and blacks on the back of Roderick F McPhee's robe (when brightened 67%), and notice when you then match the robe colors to that of Lurie and Obama's coats the photographs show with certainty Obama wore a black coat in this image, and Lurie a Blue. We need a verification of dress code for Punahou's formal occasions for 1979 and 1980 to confirm or discredit this line of reasoning.

Lets compare the ties worn by Obama in two images of the same day. Notice that in the photograph with his grandfather, we are missing a gold horizontal strips. We can assume the pink is from the lay seen in that picture, but it does not cover up the spot which a gold stripe should start.

Again note that the edits done after downloading the pictures from BarackObama.com and prior to posting them here consisted of simple single color drop/replacement and in one case a size change, (The main picture has the size change with layers of some unimportant sections "cut" for visibility) No purposeful edits were done to these images to make them otherwise portray something that is not there in the downloaded original.

Beyond the fact that the base layer is said by some to have different people in "Graduation" and "Red Faces" images, this is by and far the least "telling" of the coming photographs in this series of Obama family snap shots which show manipulation. 

I challenge all of you to scan a family snap shot into your computer (from a 35mm print) and try to get the kind of color drops you get in the Obama pictures I will be posting later.

**** WARNING: The "Angels and Demons" photograph IS more edited.... It is a version of the main picture (first) with the "Top Faces" image embossed..... and one or two other edit adjustments.... I posted it cause I liked the Michel Jackson look our Future President had going on in the picture! And it just seemed fun... Not to mention the Angel wings make for intrigue.... **** Other more than "one click" reveal pictures will be posted after this one.... mostly because I have em, why not post them..... if unknown or more than one click edits...they will be tagged as such in the photo notes.....
