At a news conference on Wednesday, President-Elect Barack Obama announced his picks for the heads of agriculture and interior secretary.
Obama called Sen. Ken Salazor and Tom Vilsack 'the two guardians of the American landscape', and bluntly declined to answer questions relating to embattled Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich during the conference.
President-elect Barack Obama announced on Wednesday that former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack would head the Agriculture Department and Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar will be interior secretary, underscoring his drive to secure energy independence for the country.
Current president George W. Bush and his team have prepared a series of crisis briefings for Obama, which outline responses to emergencies like terrorist strikes and cyber attacks.
The White House has prepared more than a dozen contingency plans to help guide President-elect Barack Obama if an international crisis erupts in the opening days of his administration, part of an elaborate operation devised to smooth the first transition of power since Sept. 11, 2001.

I was able to shake hands with Senator Salazar at the Obama Rally at CSU Oval on Sunday October 25th, 2008.

Ken Salazar is friendly and accessible. I sent him some photos from the Democratic State Convention and he used some of them on his web site. I think he is the perfect person for the job

I met Senator Ken Salazar at the Colorado Democratic Convention. I sent him some photos and he asked if he could use them on his web site. I've come to know and respect Ken as a true Western Gentleman and Diplomat. I think Barack made the perfect choice for Secretary of the Interior. sincerly, Kevin 'Doc' Holiday
