Pipe of oil

Laying a pipe filled with oil from the northern end to southern end of the USA is a bad idea on the premise. Aside from cutting through environmentally sensitive dunes in Nebraska, the pipe cuts through parts of the USA that may be ripe for earthquakes. Furthermore, it takes the oil back to the gulf where we have already seen compound environmental disasters.

Thanks but no thanks, Canada.

If you want to sell fresh water to California, now that’s a proposition we can deal with.

“Obama administration to reject Keystone pipeline

By Juliet Eilperin and Steven Mufson, Wednesday, January 18, 11:39 AM

The Obama administration will announce this afternoon it is rejecting a Canadian firm’s application for a permit to build and operate a massive oil pipeline across the U.S.-Canada border, according to sources who have been briefed on the matter.

However the administration will allow TransCanada to reapply after it develops an alternate route through the sensitive habitat of Nebraska’s Sandhills. Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns will make the announcement, which comes in response to a congressionally-mandated deadline of Feb. 21 for action on the proposed Keystone pipeline.”

I think the Canadians have already moved on. They have a pipeline scheduled for the Pacific coast. It's to come out somewhere near Kitimat British Columbia. The crude will then be shipped along the Pacific coast to Texas for refining. That's a couple of years off as the Canadian Government is in public hearing for the project. Pipelines are by far the safer solution. It's too bad Obama would rather bow to the forces that have placed the west coast in jeopardy of a spill rather than work with Trans-Canada to build a suitable pipeline. I see Obama's gone begging to Saudi-Arabia to have them increase production and delivery schedules. Gas prices have just gone up and expected to rise again. That will show up for the consumer in all purchases shortly. With all Obama's millions of taxpayer money pissed away in bad solar and wind companies, he's looking to the Saudi's to pick up the slack. I'm guessing once the election is over the Keystone will be back on track. Obama's like a fresh caught fish -flip flop flip flop flip flop...
