Some say “Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to attack you because you're vegetarian”. We live in a world in which good intentions are not always rewarded and doing the logical thing is not always popular. A place where the difference between right and wrong is clearly defined but our inaction or action with regards to that ‘difference’ revolves around who has the deepest pockets or the biggest weapon. Once in a while a few good people rise to the occasion and against all odds, they break barriers and inspire the uninspired. But through their trials and tribulations, their path begins to take its toll. Its a path that weakens them, not because they are not strong but because they are human. Its only in looking back at the past that we as a society begin to understand and appreciate their sacrifices, their struggles and their accomplishments as history allows us to see what they saw; as it allows to fully contextualize their Rise & Fall.

We as a society, Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike, act like petulant children. Slaves to instant gratification, we pout when circumstances do not conform to our desires even when some outcomes have been in our favor. We offer little room for compromise or debate as we shrug our shoulders and cross our hands in self-righteous frustration. Like a child that never fully grasped the concept of sharing, we cry for the other kid’s toy when we have our own and like siblings bickering with each other, we ask mommy to pick a favorite when a parent is meant to spread the love not proportion it. And so we repeatedly find ourselves at an impasse - an existence held hostage by unwavering ideologies and intentions that cloud our better judgment and our capacity to be reasonable. Its a vicious game of tug-of-war and Obama is the rope being yanked from both sides.

Sincerely yours,

Kwapi
