Obama Seizes Control of the US Census - Chicago-Style

Since certain groups, black and latino, have objected to the ability of the nominee for Secretary of Commerce,  Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), to carry out the Census in an appropriate manner:

Obama has taken the enormously disturbing step of taking control of the US Census himself (note that the liberal news media claims it is White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel who is supposed to manage the US Census, but Rahm works for no one but Fearless Leader). To control the census is to control the make up of power, and the flow of money, in America.

"With all of its political implications, hijacking the Census from the Commerce Dept. and letting it be run out of Rahm's office is like putting PETA in charge of issuing hunting permits," a Senior Republican Senate Aide fumed to the Sleuth. (The aide said he needed to remain anonymous for fear of "being redistricted -- Chicago style.")

So is the White House trying to pull a Tom DeLay?

"All DeLay did was rearrange the deck chairs," said the irate GOP aide, adding, "this would allow Rahm to redesign the whole ship affecting everything from congressional districts to who and where eligible S-CHIP children, adults and 'poor' rich people live."

"The United States Census is a decennial census mandated by the United States Constitution.[1] The population is enumerated every 10 years and the results are used to allocate Congressional seats (congressional apportionment), electoral votes, and government program funding."
The Congress, by law directed that:

"The Secretary [of Commerce] shall perform the functions and duties imposed upon him by this title, may issue such rules and regulations as he deems necessary to carry out such functions and duties, and may delegate the performance of such functions and duties and the authority to issue such rules and regulations to such officers and employees of the Department of Commerce as he may designate."

Can't believe that Sen. Judd was not vetted, this looks like a power-play: take out a Republican Senator and appoint someone who has opposed the Census in the past.

Cute.

Democrats spent 8 years accusing Bush of cncentrating too much power into the White House.

I agreed with them on this,.

Now, Obama may be trying to do the same. Not a good sign.
