Obama Slaps Fox News As Ratings Continue To Soar

Last night, Bill O'Reilly delivered his show starting opinion presentation, and it spoke "truth to power" in a way that few such presentations have done during this Carter's Second Term of the 44th Presidency - The Obama Administration.

The "Talking Points Memo" ended up being a tour de force about how this current leadership regime has decided to align itself against the majority of American people, who are becoming fearful of a leadership that has decided to demonize any effort to engage in debate and counterpoint to the direction they wish to take this country, politically and socially.

The funny thing is, the more they (the Obama Administration and Congressional leadership) claim that people making an honest attempt to get educated and deliver their views to their representatives are actually a militia educated mob of unruly individuals organized by the vast deep pocket resources of the insurance industry, the more Americans turn to media outlets that attempt to give a voice to both sides of debates and issues in the news.

As a set up and perspective to last night's starting opinion memo on the O'Reilly Factor, Tuesday's Talking Points Memo presentation described the ratings numbers behind the drive for truthful information.

FOX News Explodes While Liberal Media Burns

By Bill O'Reilly - Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Last Thursday was a huge victory for FOX News. "The Factor" at 8:00 p.m. beat CNN by 380 percent, MSNBC by 247 percent and Headline News by 299 percent. Total "Factor" audience for 8 and 11 was 5.4 million folks, more viewers than the "CBS Evening News" averaged last month.

Beck, Smith, Greta, and "The Factor" all won their time slots easily. In fact, last Thursday, those programs beat all four competitors combined.

So why is this happening? Well, a major reason is the health care debate. While the other network news broadcasts downplay the dissent and promote the government takeover of the health care industry, FOX News highlights the intense debate. When we cover the town hall meetings, we don't describe the protesters as loons. We don't denigrate people who disagree with President Obama. That's the big difference between FOX News and all the others.

Now, some liberals will say we intentionally glorify the protesters. That doesn't happen here. We've said there's no doubt some of the dissent is organized by people who dislike President Obama. That's a fact, and we've reported it.
----
Fair-minded Americans know our reporting is honest, while much of the other TV news media is simply in the tank for the president.

Now you'd think that liberal Americans would flock to hear their side propped up, but that's clearly not happening. For libs, conservatives and independents alike, there's really no choice. They have to watch us if they want to know what's going on. And they are in record numbers.

Last night, as an example on how vicious the news coverage has become as it relates to citizens showing up to voice their displeasure in where this leadership is taking our country, Keith Olberman of MSNBC and Anderson Cooper of CNN interviewed Mark Potok, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

This excerpted and edited from CNN AC360 transcript -

ANDERSON COOPER, AC360, CNN: According to a new report, people drawn to these groups share a hatred of paying taxes, a suspicion of anything the government does, and deep outrage over the election of an African-American man as president.

So let's dig deeper with Mark Potok, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

MARK POTOK, DIRECTOR, SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER: Well, I think, as you suggest in your intro, it really has a lot to do with the rise of the power of a black man.

You know, for these people, for this movement in general, the primary kind of enemy is the government, the federal government. That was true in the '90s, and it's true today. But the big difference today is that the federal -- the face of the federal government is the face of a black man.

So, you know, I'm not suggesting that all militias or all people involved in this movement or in this ideology, you know, are really Klansman secretly, but it is a far more racialized movement than what we saw in the '90s.

COOPER: And how many of these groups are just, you know, talkers? People who, you know, talk big, you know, love running around in forests dressed up in paramilitary gear, but ultimately, they don't amount to much?

POTOK: Well, I think that a lot of them are essentially just talkers, but talk is not always completely benign. I mean, I think we're seeing that right now in the town-hall meetings and so on.

And I think it is especially un-benign, if that's a word, malignant, you know, when the talk is coming from what I think are those really mainstream aiders and abettors. In other words, politicians and commentators who really reiterate and give some authority to the completely false ideas and propaganda theories of these groups.

So you know, what I'm saying is that there's a kind of poisoning of the mainstream political discourse. You know, instead of talking about health care, we're talking about death panels and that kind of thing.

Reference Here>>

Nice set-up Anderson! Thanks for insulting all Americans that may have a different view than Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the extreme political left in this country.

I suppose, according to Mr. Potok's unchallenged interview, that since Sarah Palin used the term "Death Panels" on her Facebook page in an entry about the Government rationing healthcare ... she is now a member of a MILITIA hate group!

And this from Kieth Olberman's Countdown on MSNBC (see video)-

This trotting out of accusations that average American citizens are racists and are getting their information from fringe hate groups is not only the tactic of the MSM outlets but of the one-party rule represented by the Obama Administration (this includeds Barack Obama, himself) and the Democrat Political Party leadership in Congress.

In an interview given by Matt Lauer of the NBC News morning program, The Today Show, yesterday morning, Robert Gibbs, the White House Press Secretary criticized the reporting on some "cable" outlets by saying, "Well, I think we all have something to lose, Matt, if we let cable television come to town hall meetings and kill health care reform for another year and put the special interests back in charge."

Is this a good strategy - to insult and malign citizens with concerns as racists and aligned with militia organizations and then declare a media war against news outlets that try to report in an honest manner, what these citizen concerns are and why they seem to be alarmed at the legislative actions proposed?

Enter the tour de force (see video):

Has the Obama Administration Declared War on FOX News?

By Bill O'Reilly, The O'Reilly Factor Talking Points Memo - Thursday, August 13, 2009

Obviously, Mr. Gibbs is criticizing FOX News, and it sounds like he's spoiling for a fight, does it not?

So the question becomes: Is that smart? Let's look at the facts.

A new Rasmussen Poll says 53 percent of Americans now oppose ObamaCare; 42 percent support the president. In the latest Gallup poll, 49 percent disapprove of the way the president is handling the health care situation; 43 percent support him.

Those numbers tell the story, and even though FOX News has big ratings, FOX News has nothing to do with the negative numbers.

Now, we invited Robert Gibbs on the program, but once again he declined. That is foolish. He and his cohorts should be all over FNC trying to convince you that ObamaCare is a good thing, a major benefit for the country. Instead, Gibbs is living in cheap-shot alley, and the president's strategy is falling apart.

On Tuesday, Mr. Obama told the country this:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Another myth that we've been hearing about is this notion that somehow we're going to be cutting your Medicare benefits. We are not. The AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

But the night before the president said that, the AARP said this on "The Factor":

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DAVID CERTNER, AARP POLICY DIRECTOR: We have not endorsed any specific piece of legislation right now, but we really are intent on trying to fix the health care system and the pieces that concern our members.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

So the president misstated the AARP position. Obviously, that does not help his credibility, which the press challenged Wednesday:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAJOR GARRETT, FOX NEWS REPORTER: Yesterday, the president said the AARP endorsed the plan. As you are aware, yesterday the AARP said it hasn't endorsed a plan. Where on the information or the disinformation scale would the president's remark fall?

GIBBS: Well, the president said well, AARP has said they are certainly supportive and have been for years on comprehensive health reform. I don't think the president meant to imply anything untoward.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

The issue is not untoward; it is untrue.

And then there was this exposition:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

OBAMA: What's your name?

JULIA HALL, KID AT OBAMA'S NEW HAMPSHIRE TOWN HALL: Julia Hall from Malden, Massachusetts.

OBAMA: Nice to meet you, Julia.

JULIA: I saw — as I was walking in, I saw a lot of signs outside saying mean things about reforming health care. How do kids know what is true? And why do people want a new system that can help — that help more of us?

OBAMA: Well, I've seen some of those signs.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Cute little girl, but the question was a set-up. Julia's mother is Kathleen Manning Hall, the coordinator of the Massachusetts Women for Obama organization during the election. In my opinion, Julia was fed the question.

By the way, the Boston Globe uncovered the contrivance.

Did President Obama know about the set-up?

Did Robert Gibbs?

I mean, that kind of stuff is incredibly dumb and again damages the president's credibility. You may recall Mr. Obama challenging the legitimacy of those speaking against him at the town hall meetings, and then they use a child in that way?

Hard to believe.
----
Millions of Americans are now skeptical of President Obama's leadership on health care because he has not been able to persuade them that his trillion-dollar vision will make their lives better.

One way to do that is to appear on the nation's highest-rated prime-time news program, "The Factor," and FOX News in general. Again, the Democrats should be all over this network. Most of us here want robust debate, but they don't show up. And now it looks like the Obama administration wants a war with FOX News.

Let me ask you: Who will that help? Us, that's who. Our ratings are already soaring because we do not denigrate the protesters like many other TV news organizations do. They are dying. We are on fire. If the Obama administration wants a war with FNC, they are dunderheads.

If you watch "The Factor" you know that I have been fair to the president, but there comes a time when the benefit of the doubt shifts. Misstating the AARP position, using a young girl as a set-up, attacking a news organization that actually covers the news honestly does not speak well, Mr. President. You guys need to take a deep breath and smell the angst. Your health care vision is not playing in Peoria, or most other places. You want to turn things around, stop the nonsense and present your case on a news network that really matters.

And that's "The Memo."

To all who wish to discount the television broadcast news ratings leader by referring to it a Faux News ... start watching, you just might learn something ... at the very least you will be able to see what a debate of issues, that have more than one side, looks like!

but wasn't it Bush who bankrupted America with his war games, sold the country to Communist China and created the Socialist States of America? And now you want to blame Obama, typically repub!

I don't live there any more, but its nice to think my grand children have the great insurance of free medical aid, and the emergency system does work with no need to show a card saying Buba. However I now pay through the nose for my own health and medical requirements its not cheap and I am really glad I do have the money to pay.

However my neighbors are not so lucky, poverty sucks here in the Philippines its not hidden. But in the USA it is, I have seen it and so I guess have you.

I can say that I really do not begrudge paying a bit more tax to benefit the less unfortunate, I however begrudge paying for the spongers. But it really is nice to know that my grandchildren will be medically cared for if my sons and daughters lose their jobs.

Me personally I don't need to have my chin wiped I do that for others less fortunate than I am here in the Philippines.

But you yanks have got it all wrong its time to have social awareness and care in USA as your not rich any more and its time to look at whats happening on your door step and time to look at what could happen to your grandchildren in the near future as US becomes just another nation.

Clearly my reply is to all American's that have been indoctrinated in the need to be greedy as being part of that great American dream. The apple pie has been nibbled to much and the apples are sour.

50 million Americans can not afford to have health care! 50 million!!! 1/5th of the pop! Who will take care of those people? Many have to seek treatment in ER tying those up for real emergencies.

You might have heard, the USA is flat ass broke and getting borker by the day. Our deficit under Barack Obama and the Democrat Congress has grown four (4) times larger than the largest deficit of any other previous year ... our unemployment is ballooning beyond 10% in the near future, and there sits one-trillion dollars of newly printed currency at Fort Knox ready to be released into the money supply (M1) without the activity of goods and services to back it up - can you say HYPERINFLATION? ... I knew you could.

ObamaCare, Cap & Trade, and any other agenda item will have to wait until we bring down our country and a good chunk of the rest of the free world with it!

As I watched Fox last night, I saw on Sean's show a bunch of mostly democrats in a townmeeting platform. Sean asked them question and there was only ONE woman who insist on shaking her head back and forth showing her support for Obama. The rest did not. The Koolaid finally has been stopped drinking by these folks. The woman who kept shaking her head back and forth was angry and was given a chance to speak. She did. She said she lost her job and that she was on medicare and social security and that she was so happy that she had the best insurance in the world under government control. Well, dear Lady, the government control now is not overrun by many as it will if socialist medicine be accepted here in the good old USA. Maybe you like to sit as a welfare person and suck up government aid because you have no interest in be a successful life, many of us don't. This dear lady is called " welfare" at it's best.  Glad to see many patriots have left their party at the door and have joined others to recapture our government from these thugs and this Socialist clueless President.

I'm sure my word will spark more protests luckily I don't have the time I used to be able to  contribute here.

I didn't support Obama until the very last minute of the election and then I didn't vote because I didn't want to be responsible for putting the wrong person in office (I was raised on the platform to vote for the best man - or now, woman).

But I did start to follow FOX and the truth and I've had to yank down every positive word I've ever said about that man when I realized two things one, my mother would be a victim of his healthcare plan and now I, faced with my mother's disease that is much more aggressive than hers and costing me a fortune, would also suffer.

When a public figure won't allow the general public to challenge him - something all political debates and platforms are built upon and keep an open ear (even to the uneducated critics and I don't say that with disrespect - uneducated meaning some people are limited in comprehension and just want the truth - simple, to the point, the first grade version) then it is a red flag for a political figure.

It is a mistake to have a leader who declines an interview or in this case a network to challenge him that is passed off as unimportant when it comes to reporting the truth.

If his agenda was one that would honestly benefit all but a few, even then those "bumps" in his plan have a place to be addressed especially by those who would be affected.

And all of this rests in the shadow of economic stimulation that is structured like a multi level marketing scheme - someone will always be on top, someone will always lose, and in the end there will be a collapse - in our case a worse depression than seen in the 1930's.

My most trusted news sources - have all been wined and dined by someone who knows how to control others and that is not only frightening but unacceptable based on the platform upon which our government was built.

I'm sorry that the person who appeared to be the best man ended up abusing his power in office.  There is no such thing as selective media outlets in Washington - he is our President, and until he isn't we all are obligated to respect him or any person that holds that office.

But in exchange for that respect, there has to be an open link and communication even if it means being embarrassed in front of the public.  Everyone makes mistakes - other Presidents have been called on their mistakes and addressed them - it takes a real man and a real American to admit they were wrong or used poor judgment or flat out didn’t know what they were talking about.

In the back of my head, I keep trying to tell myself that he will come to his senses even if it means he is completely in the wrong in the face of his protestors - apparently he forgot many of those protestors put him in office - he is obligated to answer questions.  And it is so obvious that he has avoided the truth that in the end, FOX appears to be the only place to get real, All-American, news as it is.

It's a shame that a man who had so much potential has done so much damage to his credibility - hopefully he will realize that before he does any more damage - one can create all the goodwill in the world to get their way but in the end someone will have to pay the bill.

I don't care who is in office when it comes to race or gender (I simply ask for a good leader and a better communicator and listener) but I do care that they are open and honest and when they have made a mistake, will admit it.  It takes a big man to do that and an admission of mistake or problems, only gains more respect and trust by most people.

There are those people on earth that will never forgive someone.  But for the most part we are a forgiving nation, we are all in this together and it is time someone step up and take the reins of responsibility and truth.

I still believe our president has incredible potential but he seems to not know that he has made a major mistake but cutting out part of the media.  We pay him to represent us - and he gets a lot of perks for doing so - therefore he is accountable to those who write his check and pay for the perks of his job.

I can't tell him how to do his job - no one can - but he seems to think he can pull the wool over the public eye and in the end that is the type of thing that will be obvious to all.

If he has nothing to hide and wants to gain respect and confidence from the people whom he represents, he needs to step in from of those that don’t support him and even if he does nothing more than take a verbal beating, it will give him something to think about.

And any good man or woman in a position of power and responsibility will likely lose sleep until those issues are addressed with tact and respect - not ignorance by trying to categorize them as some group of irresponsible, bigoted citizens – as that is simply not the case for the majority of the people whom he has upset.

(YOU ARE WELCOME TO REPLY WITH ANY DISPUTES - it may be a while before I can get back to them).

This figure is incorrect, it is unscrubbed propaganda - it is not "no longer can afford" its more like a combination of illegal alien, young and healthy, willing to gamble and when one strips this out ... the "no longer can afford" or chronically uninsured comes to about 15 million.

That still leaves about 280 million generally comfortable with their choices ... and the fact that they still HAVE CHOICES.

I just want to input something:  We lost more soldiers in Afghanistan over the past 6 weeks then we did in any other timeframe of such in all the years we were over there under President Bush.  Obama has managed to spend more money than any other president EVER in only 7 short months.  Obama is pushing this health bill through even though he admittedly stated that he would not have his family participate.  Unemployment is at the highest it has been for a decade........with 500,000 'new' people each month applying for unemployment benefits.  Obama believes in taking from the 'rich' (which it appears that is anyone making $30K or more a year) and giving it to the poor - I'm all for taking care of people that are down and out but why not just fix the government sponsored programs we have in place now and have stipulations on how and for how long they will 'support' the down and out?  Obama DOES NOT believe in America (or he wouldn't be apologizing for us when he travels abroad) - America, until now, has always been built on the fact the if you work hard you can reap rewards - under Obama the opposite is true.  I wonder more and more everyday what I am working so hard for - especially now that what I make won't better my family it will be paid in taxes to support those that aren't, or can't, or don't want to work.  Why should I try so hard when I can just live off the government.  I would also like to know what Obama is giving up?  Is he forfeiting any of his salary during this 'hard' time?  Is he forgoing vacations?  Jet travel?  Chauferred automobiles?  I don't about you but I am very, very concerned with the future and where he is taking us.  I would also like to know why he isn't putting money into the hands of the American people - the very ones that CAN stimulate the economy?  Is it because then he won't have 'control' (which apparently he wants to control everything from banks, to health care, to automakers, to what kind of cars we buy, how 'green' our homes are, etc.)  When is enough, enough with this guy?  How many presidents before him critized newspeople for what they said or wrote?  How many presidents before asked to be told if ANYONE said anything 'negative' about a topic (Obama recently did this regarding HIS health care bill).  There was a guy like him many years ago - that did just this - made changes very fast, took control of 'everything' for the 'better' of the people, didn't want anyone to comment on any of his actions ............Hitler!  Remember him?

So America does not want to be a caring society and its poor and less fortunate have no patriotic value, because US patriotism really means I am all right jack stuff you.  Its times like this when I am proud to be British our health service may suck a bit sometimes but at least its there even for the street bums.

When one takes the action to increase bad decisions put forth by a previous Administration and compound them by QUADRUPLING them ... I think we all know what is worse.

Obama has increased this country's debt over any Bush year by four (4) times through the passing of Stimulus and Omnibus spending bills.

J2B, please pull you head out of the Kool-Aid vat, dry your face off, and get back into the society you obviously hate ... it may actually put a smile on your face to join something that is honest, for once.

"But you yanks have got it all wrong its time to have social awareness and care in USA as your not rich any more and its time to look at whats happening on your door step and time to look at what could happen to your grandchildren in the near future as US becomes just another nation."

I think you are too  hard on us. You suggest the US is lacking social awareness; but I would imagine that we have distributed more aid worldwide than any other industrialiized nation...and probably several times the amount of some nations combined. Also no one...no one...gets left on the street to die here in America. Everyone...everyone ...citizen or not ...contributor to the social fabric or bum on the street... gets treated in our emergency rooms

We have plenty of social awareness and compassion. What we don't have is  anymore money. We need to revive our economy so we can continue to help our selves and others here and overseas.

84 % of us have health insurance and 75 % of those who have it are satisfied with it.  When you look at the 16% who are uninsured - factor out the ones who can afford it and choose not to have it because they balance the cost against their need; then take out the ones who do qualify for an existing government program - but fail to sign up; then factor out the millions of illegals who may be working here but are sending hundreds of millions of dollars back home. I imagine that out of 310 million Americans the number of those who truly need and deserve  more government assistance is nowhere near the 47 million that keeps getting thrown about.

I would be in favor of cutting back our generous foreign aid programs, including the billions sent to the Phillipines, if that would cover our citizens who through no fault or decision of their own remain  uninsured.  perhaps that that would  satisy the critics who say we don't do enough for our own people.

Since we are "not rich any more' and becoming "just another another nation" maybe we should stop sending our tax dollars overseas and worry more about our "grand children" . I think that is an excellent Idea.

When Congress comes up with a plan that targets our truly needy citizens people and pays for it by reducing foreign aid  to those who disparage and resent us ...I will support it enthusiastically.

Actual number of sick people and hard cases that can not afford Health Care is more around 15 million - scrub out non-citizens, the very young, and those who are gambling ... 15 million TOPS!

The Government, by law, has to support treatment in ER.

i hate all politicians.  they are all crooks.  generally, democrats are (slightly) more evil.

as for health care, i don't want it.  the only way i'd EVER go to a hospital is unconcious.  maybe if the FDA was good & honest, and actually cared about our health, most people wouldn't need to go to the hospital.  so, you see where the problem is now, don't you?

I fear nyctuber is correct.  You have swallowed the Fox propaganda hook,  line, and sinker.  I also do not want healthcare.  But this is beside the point.
