What was your opinion on Obama's speech about the Tucson shooting?
To me, it was a good speech. About as good of a speech that a politician can generate though it seemed more like a pep rally than a mournful speech to me. I mean why the heck would people cheer at a memorial service?
Just another campaign speech to liberal college students?
He looked pretty upset about everything that had happened. It actually felt like he didnt want to speak about it (as it was upsetting).

To the families of those we’ve lost; to all who called them friends; to the students of this university, the public servants gathered tonight, and the people of Tucson and Arizona: I have come here tonight as an American who, like all Americans, kneels to pray with you today, and will stand by you tomorrow.

There is nothing I can say that will fill the sudden hole torn in your hearts. But know this: the hopes of a nation are here tonight. We mourn with you for the fallen. We join you in your grief. And we add our faith to yours that Representative Gabrielle Giffords and the other living victims of this tragedy pull through.

On Saturday morning, Gabby, her staff, and many of her constituents gathered outside a supermarket to exercise their right to peaceful assembly and free speech. They were fulfilling a central tenet of the democracy envisioned by our founders - representatives of the people answering to their constituents, so as to carry their concerns to our nation’s capital. Gabby called it “Congress on Your Corner” - just an updated version of government of and by and for the people.

If you ask me the people shouldn't have clapped either, but what are they gonna do about it.... and after all, maybe that's what Tucson needs, something to pep themselves back up
I will have to agree with you on Obama's Speech. It did seem like a pep rally for a high school football team!!

I thought it was a great speech, but I also agree about the self serving element to it. Cheering certainly is inappropriate but mostly unavoidable when you have the president speaking in front of so many supporters and audience members.

I feel that Americans do not appreciate what a wonderful leader you have in B. Obama. His speech was heartfelt and uplifiting. I would like to offer my congratulations on this speech and my condolences to the families of the lost ones, particularly the little wee  girl.I feel that with some Americans, Obama can do no right, which tells me to be careful as there is an obvious agenda to discredit the president. Do not take seriously anyone who is complains 100% about a leader.Prayers are offered for Americans and for Obama to be supported by the people. And may this be the last shooting.Kind regardsJohn

Under the circumstances, it was a great speech.

It is clear that we live in a world where people believe what that have chosen to believe. It find it extremely odd that people try to paint our President as a person who does not care about people. They attempt to paint the picture that he is a human being that is so out of touch with real life that he can't even be seen as sincere even in a moment of death. Our president has dedicated his life to service to people. His background of service clearly refuted the ideological perspective that this President does not care about people or that he does not care about America. I believe that we have one of the greatest presidents that this world has and ever will know. Everything that he does is directed torward making something possible for american that was not possible before. Every so often I go back a view The President's old speeches. According to my research he is doing exactly what he said he would do as President. He closed out the elections nearly 200 electorial votes over his competition which tells me that the American people believe in him and believe in what he is doing and i make you this promise he will be elected again. To all of the critics who try to tell us that we can't we will respond witht hat timeless American creed YES WE CAN!!
