NP Rank:
Obama Surges over 270
In the calculation of the Election Projection Database (EPD), Barack Obama has now surged over the 270 projection needed to win the White House.
The EPD, now consists of 82 mock projection sites for the Electoral College. We have also added stats in on how many sites are projecting the winner to be Barack Obama or John McCain. In addition, in response to a request from one of our loyal readers (yes we do read responses and sometimes even reply) we have added stats that tells how many sites are projecting Obama and McCain over the necessary 270.
Here is the lay of the land as you read this … number of sites projecting Obama and McCain the winner …
Barack Obama: 78
John McCain: 2
Ties: 2
If you following our EPD and have it bookmarked, you would be able to see, beyond the daily tracking polls, the widening Obama lead. Just about two weeks ago, John McCain was surging and we had a high of 21 projections sites projecting McCain in the lead. That is down to 2 lonely holdouts. We also had a high of 10 projection sites depicting a Tie, that is down to 2.
What about our new compilation stats … sites projecting each candidate over 270 electoral votes.
Barack Oabma: 44
John McCain: 1
As we update this monster most times twice per day, we are seeing what we thought we would see, a widening Obama lead. I suspect at some point this week, more Battleground polling will be released and the Battleground states could begin to widen and follow suit to the daily trackers. There is evidence of that occurring as several pols are showing slight leads now for Obama in Ohio and Florida. In addition, a once tight Battleground polling from Diageo/Hotline now shows Obama with a 50% to 40% lea din Battleground states. Surely that will show up in state polls.
The ABC/WashPost poll showing that by margin of nearly 2 to 1, Americans blame the GOP for the financial bailout failure will likely hold even more disaster for the McCain campaign. In our opinion, McCain clearly has only one way left to go — negative. Question is — will it work or will it alienate independent voters, whom most make up the undecideds.
In our munched numbers, for the first time, Barack Obama has surged over the needed 270 electoral votes. Munching the sites updated today (a total of 13 sites updating today, 9/30, as of this writing), Obama has a munched lead of…
Barack Obama: 296.6
John McCain: 220.9
If you take the last two days (9/29 and 9/30, a total of 26 sites), the numbers are:
Barack Obama: 285.1
John McCain: 219
So what does this tell us? At this point it tells us the lead is widening for Obama and that Obama is in a strong position.
Feel free to bookmark our Database. We update it (well try to) twice per day. In addition, 3BlueDudes.com is on Facebook. Visit us there as well. Request us as a friend, we don’t bite.

You mean Obama wins the election on his own absentee ballot while already 6' underground? Moon, you may possibly be correct (this time)! It should be a landslide, and although I'm not voting for Obama... "IF" by some miracle McCain should win... I'd have to finally consider (as, other have suggested in the pas) that the election was rigged.
