Obama is tackling too many issues - Colin Powell
Colin Powell, former Chief of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary of State during George Bush's first term is concerned that President Obama is tackling too many issues. Powell endorsed President Obama for election to the dismay of the GOP.
In a television interview to be aired today, Colin Powell has stated that he is concerned that President Obama is taking on too much. Obama is presently pushing hard for Health Care Reform, Cap and Trade to support climate change and is trying to emerge from the worst global crisis since the 30s.
Powell urges the President to take a hard look at the red tape he is creating and the National Debt that is increasing. He said he was very concerned about the debt that is mounting up in the trillions. This debt has to be paid back and probably on the backs of our children and grandchildren.
"I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president — and I've talked to some of his people about this — is that you can't have so many things on the table that you can't absorb it all. And we can't pay for it all," Powell said.
Colin Powell says he maintains contact with President Obama.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Colin Powell worries that President Barack Obama is trying to tackle too many big issues at one time and he offers this advice: take a hard look at costs and consider the additional red tape that will be created.
"The right answer is, `Give me a government that works,'" the former secretary of state said in a television interview to be aired Sunday. "Keep it as small as possible," added Powell, who said he has spoken recently with Obama and stays in touch with him. Powell, a Republican, endorsed Obama last year over the GOP presidential nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Obama wants to overhaul the health care system and take on climate change while also helping the country emerge from the recession.
"I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president — and I've talked to some of his people about this — is that you can't have so many things on the table that you can't absorb it all. And we can't pay for it all," Powell said.

Colin Powell is definitely capable of multi-tasking and based on his past experience, he knows there is a limit of how many things you can tackle at one time.

If someone has shown his independence, cautiousness and knowledge in various administrations, its Colin Powell, a man very much admired for his insight and loyalty. I honestly fully agree with him and it is of great concern that Obama is not yet of the caliber of Colin Powell. Obama should listen and act accordingly.
