Obama tells Oprah He Deserves a B-plus for 1st Year as President
Obama told Oprah that he deserved a "solid B-plus" for his first 11 months in office during ABC Oprah-Obama Christmas Special that aired on ABC at 10pm on Dec 13.
So, why did Obama give himself a "solid B-plus" during the Oprah White House Christmas special? Obama told Oprah that, given the challenges he has faced as president, Obama has made quite a few accomplishments, though not enough for an A. If the healthcare bill is passed, Obama said his grade should tip over into an A-minus.
Mr. Obama said that he inherited the biggest set of challenges of any president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but he ticked through a list of items that he called accomplishments: stabilizing the economy, withdrawing troops from Iraq, settling on the “best possible plan” in Afghanistan, improving America’s image around the world and finding international consensus on disabling nuclear weapons in Iran and North Korea.
In addition to grading himself, Obama talked about the best Christmas presents he's received (a "kid 10-speed bike" and a basketball). Oprah also interviewed Michelle Obama and provided viewers with an inside peek of the Obama Christmas at the White House. Everyone in the family has their own Christmas stocking - including the Obama's pet dog, Bo.
The White House Christmas Special is one of only a few primetime specials that Oprah has undertaken during her career. The Christmas Special also constitutes the first time that Oprah has interviewed President Obama since he became president.
So, what do you think of Obama's report card? What grade would you give him?
