Obama urges a plan of action in Afghanistan
Certainly absent was his previous statements whereby he talked about invading Pakistan and Iran, which will certainly not win him any friends there and at home.
More troops in Afghanistan will certainly go a long way in routing the Taliban, and provide much needed support to our troops already fighting there.

KABUL -- U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama called Afghanistan's situation "precarious and urgent" yesterday and said Washington should start planning to transfer more troops there from Iraq.
The Illinois Democrat spoke from Afghanistan on U.S. television after meeting privately with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on an overseas trip meant to bolster his foreign policy credentials.
"We have to understand that the situation is precarious and urgent here in Afghanistan, and I believe this has to be the central focus, the central front, in our battle against terrorism," Mr. Obama said.
Mr. Obama was spending last night in Kuwait, where he met the Gulf Arab state's emir, Sheik Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah. He was due to fly to Iraq for meetings today.
He is also due to visit Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and Britain on a foreign tour he hopes will help answer Republican criticism that he lacks the experience to be commander-in-chief. Mr. Obama said after meetings with commanders in Afghanistan that Washington should start planning immediately for a shift of soldiers to the war with the Islamist Taliban from Iraq, where there are four times as many troops.

....It is clear Obama is not for stopping the War, but merely transferring it. We like to beat up on the Taliban, but you know I am sure the Taliban were around way before 911 happened, and were certainly the guys who helped the US kick Russia out of Afghanistan... This Afghanistan War is another smoke and mirrors campaign for the sake of the US military Complex. As we can see the big Military Bruisers, tanks, missiles, Helicopters etc, rely on Mom and Pop middle Americans to pay for this stuff. How is it the strong military will suck off the meager earnings of the weak in society?
I am ashamed of Obama and his phoney campaign. He brings no hope to Americans. He is but another of the brain dead Americans who can't figure out the right between right and wrong.
In comparison we felt the North Vietnamese were no good commies back in the 60's. This same political Bull and Sh*t has been going on for a long time now. And yet the N.Vietnamese are still around in the world. They still exist and live in N.Vietnam. I find it absurd that we have the right to do geneocidal acts against Afghanistan peoples, which clearly they are doing for the sake of the Caspian Oil pipeline they want to move forward with.

Thanks for your comments djermano, granted the Taliban were trained by US forces during the Russia Afghan conflict, as was Saddam years earlier, I have no answer to your question, except we should choose our allies carefully, as it is certain decades later, it will bite us in the ass.

Thanks for the link Rene, really, really appreciated, here is a brief excerpt from Renes link
PESHAWAR: White House hopeful Barack Obama's threats of US military action against extremist sanctuaries in Pakistan are undermining Islamabad's new government, NWFP Governor Owais Ghani warned.
The governor said any incursion into the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan would spark "disastrous" consequences for the whole world. "Candidate Obama gave these statements, I come out openly and say such statements undermine support, don't do it," Ghani told AFP in an interview late Saturday here.

Pakistan has said the same thing over and over and over again. The U.S. has already carried out strikes in Pakistan this year. Here are the links.

Pakistan just doesn't want anybody stepping on their territory, which is understandable, but they have to control the border region. Once again, this is hard, considering it was westerners who imposed the Durand Line in their region, which effectively split people of the same tribe, culture, and religion.
It was just impressive that Obama had the foresight to see that this region was a problem, and would continue to be a problem. Though I do not advocate a war with them either, I do believe coordinate strikes in the region against high level terror targets is smart.

Certainly Vrod, it will be a difficult task for any president, a US or Pakistani President, but crossing into the sovereignty without permission is a violation of that country, though one can understand the US frustration of seeing the Taliban across the border snubbing their noses at us, as they seem to have free rein, crossing into Afghanistan and Pakistan with ease. Pakistan's borders seem quite porous, but when you see the harsh and inhospitable mountain terrain, it can be a tad hard to maintain and patrol for the US and the Pakistani's. Thanks for the Links and comments Vrod.
