It's one month until the American presidential election and tonight is the second debate between John McCain and Barack Obama.

Obama is going into the debate tonight with a significant lead amongst polls with 53 per cent of the vote, compared to 45 per cent for McCain (according to a CNN poll).

The debate comes amid stepped-up attacks from both sides.

Gov. Sarah Palin accused Obama of "palling around with terrorists who would target their own country," and Obama's campaign released an ad quoting editorials that called McCain "erratic" and "out of touch."

Fifty-three percent of likely voters questioned in the poll say they are backing Obama for president, with 45 percent supporting McCain.

StandUpToRacism has posted about reports of a supporter shouting 'kill him' in regards to Obama while Palin stood by:

It is being reported that in Florida, while Sarah Palin was verbally attacking Barrack Obama, a man shouted out "Kill Him!"

Palin went on talking and nothing was done to the man.

AAAPundit is talking about the large amount of black American service members who are voting for Obama, at least 80 per cent according to recent polling:

According to the Air Force Times.com Sen. John McCain enjoys overwhelming support from the military’s professional core, though race appears to be a decisive factor for career-oriented black service members, a Military Times survey of nearly 4,300 readers indicates.

Nearly eight out of 10 black service members indicated they intend to vote for Obama despite his lack of military service and despite McCain’s record as a naval aviator and prisoner of war in Vietnam.

Bill Hitchcock has a story talking about the Vice Presidential debates on October 2, when Biden said bankruptcy courts should be able to adjust interest rates on home owners houses:

Biden:”Number two, with regard to bankruptcy now, Gwen, what we should be doing now — and Barack Obama and I support it — we should be allowing bankruptcy courts to be able to re-adjust not just the interest rate you’re paying on your mortgage to be able to stay in your home, but be able to adjust the principal that you owe, the principal that you owe.”

Rob Walker, I like this story. It's good stuff.  It should be interesting as McCain is much better off the cuff in town hall meetings and Obama has a better handle in economics.  Unless there is a gaff or a major blunder of some kind It may be a wash.  I am disappointed that Obama/McCain would do a multiple tour with debates across the country.  Seems like we have to make our desisons based upon attack adds.
