Today’s speech at West Point will be a speech he will always be remembered by clearly the sending of 30,000 US troops early next year was not the main point.

He assured America that he was working on each and every citizens behalf that he was going to keep to his promises. He assured the Afghan’s that USA did not want to stay in their country it’s their’s and he would hand it over when the Taliban are defeated and their security forces are trained and ready to protect them.

He promised to support and help the Pakistani’s to defeat the Taliban in Pakistan.

He showed he has a strong commitment to each and every promise he has made and stated “it may not be easy” concerning the war on terror.

He stated firmly he wants to see a world without nuclear weapons, and use every means to achieve that aim.

US President Barack Obama has delivered a speech spelling out his review of Afghan strategy and has ordered a surge of 30,000 additional US soldiers.

Mr Obama also set out how the US would approach its exit strategy and urged allies to send more soldiers.

The new deployment over six months will bring America's troop strength in the country to more than 100,000, in the fight against Taliban militants.

Mr Obama believes the surge will help prepare the handover to Afghan forces.

West Point, New York (CNN) -- President Obama said Tuesday that although the Afghanistan war is not lost, "it has moved backwards" for several years.

Obama is outlining his strategy for the war in Afghanistan to an audience at the U.S. Military Academy, one that he says will bring the war "to a successful conclusion."

"There is no imminent threat of the government being overthrown, but the Taliban has gained momentum," Obama said. "Al Qaeda has not re-emerged in Afghanistan in the same numbers as before 9/11, but they retain their safe-havens along the border.

"And our forces lack the full support they need to effectively train and partner with Afghan Security Forces and better secure the population. ... In short, the status-quo is not sustainable."

Obama announced he is deploying 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan "at the fastest pace possible" with a goal of starting to withdraw forces from the country in July 2011.
