Canada's New Democratic Party (NDP) Leader Jack Layton said in a media interview that the uprising of popularity of Obama to Rock Star Status amongst young voters is a playbook his party and he as a leader would like to follow. Imagine that the NDP, Left wing party wanting that Edgy Black Leather Bad Boy Look.
The NDP, historically always running third place, would like to increase their fortunes on the Political stage when an Federal Canadian Election is called this Sunday.
A Federal Political Race will ensue between three major political parties, the Conservative Party, Liberal Party and the New Democratic Party. Certainly an election which will never garner worldwide media attention as the United States Election. But perhaps, in Barry Artistes satirical world if all three Canadian Politicians took on Rock Star persona's, perhaps they too would draw fans to their political agenda and spread the message they wish to convey to the Canadian Public, much like some Rock Stars do, such as U2.
On another note on Rock Star wannabes "A List" Actor Brad Pitt, had stated as well this week as well his lifelong dream, if not an actor, would have been to be a Major Rock Star.
Certainly Brad Pitt has a head start in the Throngs of adoring Fans, with only guitar and voice lessons standing in his way.
Politicians on the other hand, need charm, talent, music and voice lessons. Though all political parties and Brad Pitt all have stage presence, only one can draw a crowd without really trying.
Brad Pitt by the way also ended the interview with something to the effect of "I realised my dreams of Rock Star Status were dashed, when Friends and Family said I really, really Sucked!"
I have taken the Liberty of trying to match Existing Rockstars, superimposing our politicians heads on their bodies in what I think their tastes would run.
Stephen Harper (Conservative - Moderate Right Wing) as Garth Brooks for that folksy, ah shucks, country cowboy look
Stephane Dion, (Liberal -Centre Left Wing )the intellect and academic as Schoolboy AC/DC rocker.
Jack Layton (NDP - Left Wing) as George Micheals in Leather, for that Hard Edgy Look
