There is little president Obama or anyone else can to to bring peace to the middle east. The two sides are not willing to compromise to achieve peace and until they do there will be no peace.
"
Many Arabs are looking for a tougher approach from Obama, with some invoking a popular Arabic saying: "You can't chew meat unless you have some teeth.""We're willing to make peace, but we want the [Israeli-occupied] Golan [Heights] back," says Ahmad, a taxi driver in Damascus. "Until the Americans match their actions with their words and put the Israelis under real pressure, nothing will happen."

Hi 158,
I am not quite sure that this is accurate. Israel has been providing all kinds of opportunities to encourage the PA back to the table. Including opening the Allenby bridge until midnight for traffic between Jordan, West Bank and Israel proper. Israel has ended many road checkpoints in the West Bank. In fact now one can travel from Jenin in the north to Hebron in the south without any interruption. This in spite of making it easier for terrorist opportunities. Israel has just recently allowed cement and other building materials to enter Gaza through Israel with concern that Hamas will use it not for building homes but for weapon building. This has happened in the past.
The demand by "many Arabs" for the US to pressure Israel to give back everything including the State of the Jews is the real intent. We all know it living here in the Middle East. So let us not be so naive and rather look at the actual progress and concessions Israel is actually doing. Talk is cheap and that is what we hear from the PA and others. As long as the PA feels that they can get the US to get Israel to give more and more no peace will be possible.
