Victims of state-supported gang stalking should be outraged by little-publicized rally comment

GET POLITICAL w/ VIC LIVINGSTON

As a long-time journalist and a human rights advocate, I've written extensively about my personal experiences with state-supported "extrajudicial targeting" -- commonly known as "gang stalking" or "community stalking," or, as I've called it, "The American Gestapo."

http://www.nowpublic.com/world/american-gestapo-state-supported-terrorism-targets-u-s-citizens

I've also expressed my support for Barack Obama (once Hillary Clinton eliminated herself from contention for the nomination with her half-hearted convention challenge).

Now, on the eve of the election, the McCain campaign has launched a fear and smear fusillade of attack ads, videos and direct mail pieces intended to give pause to those who came late to the Obama party.

Well, one of those efforts has succeeded mightily in raising alarm bells in this quarter.

It's a clip from an Obama speech delivered last July in Colorado, in which he said that the security of the nation requires a "civilian national security force" that is "just as powerful" and "well-funded" as the existing U.S. military.

True to form, this comment failed to provoke much attention in the mainstream media, although today I learned that the clip was posted on YouTube almost immediately.

As someone whose personal experiences indicate that American citizens already are being terrorized by so-called "extrajudicial targeting" at the hands of a state-supported vigilante network -- operating under the cover of volunteer community watch programs and "service" corps -- I was extremely troubled when I viewed the brief clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt2yGzHfy7s

Yes, it's taken out of context.  But that Obama could utter these words is so disconcerting to me -- revelatory, and not in a good way -- that I must hear an immediate explanation and amplification from Obama himself before I can give him my vote and feel good about it.

It's apparent that Obama is oblivious to the great injustices against American citizens already being committed by these state-supported vigilantes in the name of "homeland security."  (The very nomenclature chosen by the Bush administration is evocative of fascist Third Reich rhetoric.)

Many of those targeted are innocent citizens who have been labeled as "dissenters" or have been falsely and slanderously targeted as suspected wrongdoers by a neo-fascist element within the security establishment.

The existing civilian vigilante network, apparently interconnected by communications links established by federal, state and local law enforcement, is employing civilians as its extrajudicial "street muscle" in under-the-radar stealth fashion.  Local officials deny this is happening, and attempt to portray those who raise the issue as delusional or worse -- the very methodology employed by fascist regimes to put down those who dare to protest against such abuses of power.

That Obama seeks to give legitimacy to what's already a Stasi-like network of civilian stormtroopers who stalk, vandalize and employ hi-tech "directed energy" weaponry is naive pandering at best, and dangerous demagoguery at worst.

If Obama does not renounce this concept immediately, and demonstrate his recognition of the danger and folly of using civilians as a domestic security force, I will seriously consider casting my vote for Bob Barr or Ralph Nader.

I don't even know if either of those candidates is on the ballot in Pennsylvania, where I live.  If not, I will consider a write-in vote.

Please, Sen. Obama, clarify your position in a manner that restores my confidence in you -- a confidence which has been shattered overnight by a viewing of your disturbing Colorado rally comment.

What do you think about this?   Feel free to register your opinions below.

I listened to the entire speech and did some research and even the American Thinker, a conservative ezine effectively said that they didn't interpret his comments to mean he supported militia-like groups. http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/07/obamas_civilian_national_secur.html. They are critical of his plan based on the estimated cost, but not based on intent. The national service he references is the same service he's talked about frequently when he talks about college students providing community service in exchange for tuition. The examples he gives for the types of service include the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, teacher service, etc. His official plan is here. The uncut speech in its entirety is here.

I hope that helps.

Victims of organized community/gang stalking maintain that these vigilantes are operating under the cover of government-funded civilian volunteer community watch and business-related anti-terrorism programs, utilizing their equipment and training.

The charge is that ideologues are using these programs as tools of social engineering, targeting "dissidents" and others who do not comport to their world view, and who may be falsely accused as wrongdoers deserving of vigilante "justice" -- making a mockery of the judicial system and the Constitutional right of due process under the law.

But Obama and most liberal-progressive politicians naively refuse to consider that such a thing is possible in the United States.  I am afraid that they are naively mistaken.

If the goal is high-minded "national service" via voluteerism, why the emphasis on "national security" and civilian community patrols in the manner of the East German Stasi?   I believe the most direct path to fascism is to confer police powers to untrained, ideologically motivated civilians. My experiences tell me that is precisely what is happening today in the USA.

With all due respect, the view you express seems extremely naive... or perhaps you prefer to buy into the cover story?

I watched the entire 20+ minute speech, and there is no misrepresentation by taking that short section by itself. Yes, his larger message was about service, (I also find the idea of state-mandated community service to be oppressive, un-American and unconstitutional, btw) but if you can say "Civilian National Security Force" to yourself and not have chills run up your spine, you need to read histories of the Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia or any number of other tyrannies where civilians were deputized to keep their fellow citizens in line.

He is clearly talking about the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, teacher service. Encouraging young kids to volunteer in communities. stop smearing and try to think yourself. you could have easily post the entire speech so people could hear the exact messg.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama's positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel's government.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."

[Note:  Sarkozy is a conservative and will likely get along very well with McCain and Palin.]

Thank you..  But I believe Obama and other liberals /progressives are so high-minded and naive that they don't see how their well-meaning government programs can be manipulated and exploited by ideologues.  I am not questioning his intent.  I am questioning whether he and other liberals/progressives, by way of their naivete, are helping ideologues dismantle the Constitution in the name of "national service."

Scrivener, I like this story. It's good stuff. I am shocked. That is why I am voting Libertarian.

You haven't provided a shred of evidence to make the irresponsible statements you're making. Even in the face of the context of the published national service plan and the entirety of the speech, which you failed to provide readers, you are posting baseless suspicions. Calling me naive doesn't demonstrate respect and continuing this thread serves no purpose.

Sorry, but your lack of depth is clearly shown by the fact that you wrote this article after watching a mere 20 second clip of Obama's speech.  The fact you couldn't even be bothered to watch the whole speech shows how little you care about the truth.

You seem very well-meaning, but you give the impression of someone who is so panicked by a particular bogeyman (organized community/gang stalking...whatever the hell that is) that you  twist anything into a possible sign of it's arrival.

Sorry..., but this is one progressive who is not going to be panicked by the idea of Americorp or teachers service members run amock.

And the reason Obama mentioned them as part of national security (if you'd bother to watch the whole speech) is because it's part of his larger message- that national security isn't just about guns and laws, it's about stronger infrastructure, educated citizens, and a strong economy.  His message is that it does no good protecting America from without if it rots away from within - don't spend so much money on door locks and window bars that you neglect the radon gas, carbon monoxide, fire-trap furnace and collapsing roof.

I don't need change if it means the secret police.  I don't need change if it means that I have to work harder for less money so that people I don't know can have an easier time.  I certainly don't need change if it means the our country being tested.  It is a good thing we have had no terror attacks since the attack of Sept 11.

I am afraid of four things with Obama:

1.  The secret police.  He promised to take our ~$450B defense budget, cut it to ~$300B then spend an additional ~$300B on secret police.  I think with our city and state police, plus the FBI and CIA, we have enough people watching out for our safety.  Yes, this smacks of fascism and it completely ties in with his desire to make purchases of guns and ammunition expensive and difficult and to keep a database of gun purchases.  Disarm the people, arm the "national security force".  Obama has already expressed disappointment that the Supreme Court is not more active in reinterpreting the Constitution.

2.  Obama's economic plans do not make sense.  They will drive jobs out of the country. The economy must be based upon production and not upon happy people having money.  The reward for producing is money which one spends to drive the economy. Here is an article about how he will bankrupt coal plant builders and put American coal mines out of business.  I'm sure some company located in another country will pick up the slack and produce coal and continue to pollute our planet:

Obama says he will bankrupt coal plant builders

3.  The disconnect between Obama's personal behavior and his stated values.  He wants us to be unselfish and pay more taxes to help out our fellow man, yet he allows his brother to live in a mud shack without running water.  He allows his aunt to live in government subs.  He says he didn't know but in his book he reveres this aunt.  He sat in the pew for many years with Rev Wright then threw him under the bus when it became unpopular.  He minimized his relationships with others in his life like Bill Ayers and Khalidi.  I don't care who is friends are.  The issue is one of honesty.  Why can't he stand up for his friends?  I don't understand all the smoke and mirrors.

4.  Foreign policy immaturity.   I didn't say it - Sarkozy did.  He meddled in Kenyan politics. Khadafi wants him:  Khadafi on Obama  He's already acted like Iran is insignificant when they continue to threaten to obliterate Israel.  He blamed all parties when Russia attacked Georgia rather than stand up for Georgia's sovereignty.  He has been endorsed by Hammas, Khadafi, Castro and Farrakhan.  They don't have American's best interest at heart so I can only conclude that they are looking for a weak America.

5.  Most importantly, perhaps, are Obama's anti-family plans.  Abortion rights that extend until after the baby has been delivered are only part of it.  Zero to five early childhood education coupled with a tax credit for each working person will encourage families to put their children in the system immediately so that both parents can work.

It isn't a matter of liking or not liking George Bush.  He has not used the power of the veto very much and the Democrat majority in congress has gotten their bills through.  It is a matter of prioritizing your values.  What are you voting on?  Is it about American safety?  Economy?

I don't like John McCain but I know a couple of things about him.  He has chosen his country and fellow soldiers over himself.  I know he'll put my safety above his own interests and that's why he's got my vote.  I also know that our founders created the three branches of government to keep each other in check so the Democrat congress will be on him like a dog on a bone.

How do you know what I've watched, or intend to watch, unless you know that I am being  (unjustly and unconstitutionally )surveilled 24/7?

I never referenced Americorp or teachers service organizations, and I'm sure you know those aren't the programs I'm talking about.

And you know, some might read your last sentence as a veiled threat.... why do you mention carbon monoxide, fire-trap furnace and collapsing roof?

Is that how self-righteous vigilante mobsters deal with their "prey"?

Please be advised that the "good people on the inside" are monitoring this blog along with my tormentors, and such messages are not lost upon them.

Is it just a coincidence that my furnace apparently was vandalized with a caustic acid and I had to have a cracked roof beam shorn up?  Are you telling me I should check my roof and furnace again?  Or my metallic-testing food? If so, shame on you and may God have mercy on you.

"Good people on the inside":  Has a cyber-stalking disinfo artist given himself away?  Can a civilized society do nothing as malicious threats escalate to malicious acts?  Any criminal investigator can recognize that your verbiage appears to be purposeful.  Are you a terrorist?

Will anyone stand up for American values here?  As the saying goes: The only way for evil to triumph is for enough good men to stand by and do nothing...

To each his own... but please note that I asked Obama to restore my confidence in him by clarifying his position.  I didn't say I wouldn't vote for him, only that I'd have to consider alternatives if it seems that he's so malleable as to become a tool of those who are eviscerating the constitution. His flip-flops on the FISA issue and gun control laws gave me pause this past summer.  But he still seems preferable than the alternatives.  See Moondog's comment; my intent is to get Obama to consider unintended outcomes...

A reader kindly supplied a link to the entire speech.  I recommend it to all.  It doesn't alter my premise, which is my opinion and is not stated as fact.

IMHO, the use of the phrase "civilian national security force" doesn't sound like he's talking about just the Peace Corps and Americorps.

As for posting "baseless suspicions" -- this is an opinion column and is labeled as such.  Fortunately, the First Amendment hasn't yet been revoked by self-righteous ideologues who believe they alone have a monopoly on the "truth."

I don't now how it is that a listener could hear Obama's speech and not come away saying WHAT!!!!!  A national "SECURITY FORCE" is not a service organization.  Just as "STRONG" and well funded as the US Military does not sound like - we are from the government and we are here to help.  It sounds like a police state.

Remember Obama is the great speaker and I think he said exactly what he meant and it should scare the hell out of you!  Why in the world would such a force ever be necessary except to keep dissenters in line?  These are the philosophical ideals of Mr. Ayers and the rest of the Obama clan that taught him his views.

We have also already seen clear examples of the Obama society.  The average Joe dissenter will be investigated by Obama devotees, union representatives will see that you lose your job; elections will be overrun with fraud with no investigations by Obama devotees.  This would sound paranoid if it were not already the history.

oh wont it be nice to have a black american president of whom will put america on the worlds popular country list. Gets out of Iraq and apoligises to the people there for the oil companies greed. Gets out of Afghanistan and gives back the people there freedom from american control.

Shakes hands with Putin and says hey we dont want to control your oil. Calls back all the covert CIA agents to man homeland security. But finacial controls on the stock market to prevent fraud.

Lowers taxes once USA has no war commitments and cuts off his corperate puppet masters and limits lobbying in washington.

God save America, lol

Hype, Hype and more Hype.

On the serious side no Obama will not take that facist path and certainly he will opt for peace and not war. I think he is much the better option than McCain as McCain will take the path of his predicessor and firmly place America higher on the world hate list.

seens to me that if there is only a balckman and a asshole running for president in the biggest country in the world and theres never been a blackman as a president what does that show that the competition to be president isnt the best and no one wants to be the next president maybe it will just be a jew and a indian and a footballer competeing to be the president after obama has had his rule

I don't understand why nobody in the media has not done any research on "Liberation Theology" which in good theory should tell us volumes about the man Obama since this has been his religion for the past 20 years.  Wikapedia says it has only been around since the 1970s and is a mixture of Catholisism and Marxism.  What is that all about?

This is a very distubing speech. I think Obama has more than peace corps type programs in mind with this. His campaign is a good example and preview of what we can all expect if he is elected. His campaign security team has been policing the internet and scrubbing material he does not want you to see or hear. I think the main target of these "citizen police" will be illegal aliens. Obama has used a group called Acorn to register a lot of the illegal aliens in this country to vote for him. Now he will know where they all live and will later send his civilian police after them. It will be a nightmare

What we have here is a disturbing speech, followed by disturbing excuses for it.  Sure, I'd like to believe that Obama is just looking out for us and the "civilian security force" will just be another tool to help the American people prosper in safety.

Then why does it have to be as well funded and (perhaps more tellingly) just as powerful as the US armed forces?  Just as powerful?  We have the most powerful military in the world many times over (save China, maybe)...just how powerful does a civilian security force need to be?  Disturbing for sure.

Excuses made in this thread are equally disturbing.  Seems that there are too many people willing to overlook the obvious here.  This is dangerous ground.  But it is instructive - those providing excuses from the left are wearing their big government desires on their sleeve.  From the right, there is an almost universal desire to get the government out of our lives.  When distilled in that fashion, it is a simple and profound philosophical difference.

I support militias. We should all support militias. This country was made possible by rebellious militias. They provide a check and balance to government that begun to offend those it should exist to serve.

Again people do not see the danger right before them. This is like a communist type secret policing organization where children will be informing on their parents if they hear their parents make any comments which the communists / liberals do not like. The children will be indoctrinated even more than they are now, and will be singing in unison for Obama the messiah. The parents will then be cast as villains and the leftists will laugh with delight as the executions begin and at the very least the imprisonment for hate crimes thought crimes and sedition, because anyone who does not agree with the party line is the enemy.

The leftists cannot even see what is so readily apparent from his books, speeches and demeanor or his wife’s behavior, nor do they care because they hate the European mores which their parents represent. Obama hates <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />America and white people, and he will use any power he has to destroy both.

People think history moves slowly, but changes take place very quickly, and those who do not look at the possibilities will get run over by them. Liberals besides being hypocrites and full of vengeance and cruelty are very stupid. The system they hate (european civilization) and want destroyed is the only system which affords them the right to speak their mind and to live their hedonistic life in relative peace.

We will get change alright, and it isn't going to be good.

If you are concerned about an Obama presidency and that he would carry out this plan, then vote for McCain.  Unfortunately, although admirable, voting for Barr or Nader will just allow Obama to do the very thing you are concerned about.

Obama is the biggest con ever presented.  I will not listen to anyone say, "God **** America" for years.  It is hate...How can you "liberals" claim to be the antithesis of hate when everything coming out of your mouth is hate?  And now, we learn that the tools of your hate will be the stasi?  Whatever the cause, a Nazi is a Nazi...If it walks like Nazi, talks like a Nazi, hey, it's a Nazi...The Obama fans key cars and break out windows.  This is what a Liberal means in the new world order...and now, we are going to give them authority?

May God have mercy on us all!

There is a lot of paranoia here.

How easy it is to forget that eight years of republican neo-conservative rule have subverted the powers of the Constitution and the Congress and usurped them to the executive.  These are attacks on our freedoms that have ACTUALLY HAPPENED.  We cannot allow these folks, through their candidate, to remain in power.  As Scrivener said above:

"Ascribe to your enemies the very methodologies being employed against them: A Golden Rule of the disinformation agent."
