Obama's Speech to Congress Will be Unofficial State of the Union
United States president Barack Obama will address a joint session of Congress in an unofficial 'state of the union' to discuss national priorities. Obama will speak at 9pm est in what is sure to be a widely-covered address.
Obama is speaking to congress ahead of the 2010 budget, which will be released on Thursday. Republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who has been very critical of the stimulus plan, has been picked to give the Republican response.

Bobby Jindal has been chosen to give the Republican response.A month after taking office, Obama is scheduled to speak before lawmakers at 9:00 pm ET. He will "speak to the nation about our urgent national priorities," he said last Saturday in his weekly address.

The President will focus on the state of the country's economy, fiscal responsibility, and his plans to confront and solve short- and long-term economic challenges. Although it is not the State of the Union speech, it is the first time that President Barack Obama appears before a joint session of Congress since he took office five weeks ago.
Earlier on Tuesday Obama spoke to Japan's prime minister Taro Aso who has seen experiencing political problems in the last few weeks. Obama called their relationship the 'cornerstone of security in East Asia'.

Obama also met with actor George Clooney, to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Darfur. Vice President Joe Biden was in attendance as well when Clooney briefed them on his recent trip to refugee camps on the Sudanese-Chadian border.

On the same day that a new poll showed a decline in Obama's ratings as President came out, Obama's administration said the president read an average of 10 letters a day from US citizens.
The letter to President Obama came from a woman in Arizona whose husband lost his job. He was able to find work, but the new gig came with one-third the pay; the family is struggling to make their mortgage payments.
Though he began his presidency with the second highest approval rating in the Gallup Poll's history of tracking the statistic, Barack Obama's numbers have dropped back to merely average, driven by Republicans who are growing increasingly unhappy with the president's policies.

Thanks so much Rob for including the bits from my piece :-) . An earlier piece on the fiscal responsibility summit piece might have appeared as boring news, but had a great deal of short- and long-term economic goals, which included revamping critical infrastructures hence providing jobs that can not be outsourced to foreign countries.
