The relationship between Brazil and Argentina are better with Cristina Kirchner than they were with Nestor Kirchner. Though we must consider that during the first 100 days of Cristina`s government, she has been involved mostly with domestic problems, and not with foreign affairs. Today, Brazil is not dependent to Argentina as they are of Brazil. Brazil still buys a large quantity of wheat from Argentina, though this is more important to them than to the Brazilians. There is already enough wheat in Brazil to disregard the imports from the neighbor.

In Mercosul, we can see that both countries deal with the bloc with little interest. As a whole, Mercosul is always the third or fourth priority item in the national agenda of both countries. I believe that neither country believes strongly in the bloc.
