Police Attack Peaceful Occupy Cal Demonstrators

UC Berkeley cops, apparently taking their cue from their Oakland counterparts, were caught on video as they attacked protesters on the UC Berkeley campus.

The UCPD action was caught on video (did the cops think they weren't being recorded?), which you can see below.

As with Occupy Oakland, it's the police that make the protest newsworthy on a national level, and not the demonstrators themselves.

Note that this is the UC Berkeley police, and not the police department for the city of Berkeley. Confusing? Fair enough- the Bay Area has an abundance of law enforcement agencies. BART has its own cops, too.

Berkeley city councilmember Kriss Worthington is stepping up for the rights of the students to demonstrate (this is Cal we're talking about), but UCB Chancellor Robert Birgeneau apparently is not.
