UC Davis Protest: Cops Pepper-Spray Students
California police forces are continuing the trend of heavy-handed reaction to nonviolent protest. This time, the setting is UC Davis, near Sacramento on November 18, 2011.
UC Davis police used pepper spray and batons to assault the students occupying the Quad. The incident was caught on video, which you can see below, as well as by members of the press.
Some are holding UCD chancellor Linda Katehi to account for this. Whether or not she actually takes responsibility what happened on the UC Davis campus is another matter: her strangely vague response would suggest that Katehi doesn't even know what actually happened on her campus.
Previous police overreaction to students with linked arms (this apparently terrifies University of California cops) took place on the Cal Berkeley campus.
