Occupy Melbourne: Tent Outfits Flummox Police
#OccupyMelbourne: Tent Outfits Frustrate Police Eviction Attempt
Police moved in to break up the Occupy Melbourne protest at Flagstaff Gardens... and then things got weird. While it's illegal to set up tents in Melbourne's parks, there's no law against wearing a tent as clothing.
So that's what the protesters are doing. The video to the right shows the police approach the demonstrators' tents, which suddenly sprout arms, legs, and heads. The cops stand there for a moment before walking away as the protesters laugh.
You can hear one Occupier yell, "I've got nothing on underneath!" The videographer's cackling laughter only adds to the surreal nature of the event.
