Occupy San Diego: 51 Arrested As Police Break Up Camp (Video)
51 Arrests as Police Break Up Occupy San Diego
In the early hours of October 28, San Diego police cleared out Civic Center Plaza and Children's Park, where Occupy San Diego protesters had set up camp for 22 days.
Police Chief Bill Lansdowne described the Occupy San Diego arrests as "textbook", and did not cite any violence. After the events of Occupy Oakland, we are looking for differing accounts of the showdown.
Sure enough, the police version does not match the protester version. While SDPD says that the protesters were expecting, and indeed willing, to be arrested; the protesters themselves said that the police swooped in without warning.
As happened in Oakland, the Occupy San Diego demonstrators vowed to march downtown to protest the arrests. We're presenting two videos below: one from an eyewitness and one from NBC San Diego.
