Boy, that's a relief, for a second there, I though this guy was serious, what with all the guns, drugs, ammo, bulletproof vest etc,. etc . Guess he was just a local nutjob going off to work, perhaps stopping the Democractic Convention to give a thumbs up to delegates.

Nothing wrong with that, I guess.  With that logic, perhaps Oswald was just picking out a book on "Guns and Ammo" at the Book depository.

Official: Man wasn’t a ‘credible threat’ to Obama

DENVER (AP) — Authorities are investigating whether a man arrested with rifles, ammunition and drugs in his truck made statements threatening Barack Obama, but emphasize he never posed a “credible threat” to the candidate or the Democratic National Convention.

Federal and local authorities had scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon, but U.S. Attorney Troy Eid downplayed the case.

“We’re absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention, or the people of Colorado,” Eid said in a statement.

FBI spokeswoman Kathy Wright confirmed the FBI was investigating reports the man had threatened Obama, who will be in Denver this week to accept the Democratic nomination for president.

The Joint Information Center — a command set up by city, state and federal authorities to field media inquiries during the Democratic convention — said it had no immediate comment. The action started around 1:30 a.m.

Sunday when police in the eastern suburb of Aurora stopped a truck that was swerving erratically. The driver, 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell, had a suspended driver’s license, and the truck was rented in the name of another person, said Aurora police Detective Marcus Dudley.

In the truck, officers found two rifles, including one with a scope; a bulletproof vest; boxes of ammunition; walkie-talkies; and suspected narcotics, Dudley said.

Sounds like a hunting trip to me.  ;-)

Thanks Dubk for the comments and flag, "That's what I was thinking as well, Damn government always trying to ruin a hunting trip, a logical explanation can be found for all of these items,

He had two rifles, cause as anyone knows, God gave you two hands, the  scope is because the farther you are from your target, the less likely Super Bunnies and Flying Squirrels are to see you and attack, a bulletproof vest, well come on, hunting is dangerous, Bunnies have been known to be packing; as for the boxes of ammunition, well we all know, you can never have enough Ammo!  And the Walkie-talkies; well what is your lonely on your watchtower and want to chat with friends? and to wile away the day and reduce boredom, as for the Narcotics, well Methamphetamines sure provide that Kick, Hunters everywhere are looking for!

It was the lack of beer that raised suspicions.

not a ‘credible threat’

translation - We didn't think he could actually succeed.....

......Which is why we arrested him.
