I-90 Westward Crossing Montana-Idaho Border - Lookoutpass

The Northern Border is negatively impacting on Pacific Northwest Communities.  Officials from the US and Canada said that the border policies have been shaped by concerns of terrorism and Mexico border issues.

This statement was made at a  meeting this week of lawmakers, researchers and policy experts

George Eskridge a lawmaker from Idaho said to base the northern policy on the policies of the Mexican border is wrong as the problems are totally different.

Canada and the US move $1 Billion Dollars of goods across the border daily.  The added requirements of passports has stifled not only trade, but also tourism.

While the EU has opened up its borders North America has become a fortress.

The Canada US border is the longest undefended border in the world stretching some 3500 miles from coast to coast.

BOISE, Idaho -- Officials from the United States and Canada say that American northern border policy, shaped by terrorism concerns and Mexican border issues, is negatively impacting Pacific Northwest communities.

The critical comments emerged during an annual meeting this week of lawmakers, researchers and policy experts from around the region and Canada.

One Idaho lawmaker, Rep. George Eskridge, R-Dover, says designing northern border policy based on what's being done along the Mexican border is wrong because the two borders face very different problems.

Thanks albertacowpoke! We barely hear anything about the U.S./Canadian border down here in the southern part of the U.S.

It's easy for politicians to throw it all into the same toolbag.  I remember as a kid in Manitoba we went across the border all the time.  It was never a problem.  I have also never had a problem with US customs, especially with a Military ID.  I guess those days are over now.  We're almost residents of Texas lol.

I suppose at least if they were the same, there would be less confusion.

The EU has no idea how lucky they are.

Or the American and Canadians have no idea how unlucky they are.

Another important story as the US-Canada border is one of the most important topics that effect all of us Canadians and Americans alike.

I have numerous friends in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New Jersey so it effects me as I live in Toronto, Canada.

The U.S.-Canadian border should be more opened and not turned into a jail or made difficult to cross for Canadians and Americans travelling or visiting friends on each others sides of the border.

So let's hope both countries get their act together and realize that the border impacts us all and we need to have it more freely opened like they have done in Europe.

... and now the Canadian gov't has imposed visa requirements for Mexican citizens who wish to visit.  I can understand that .. sort of.  What is the deal with requiring visas from Czeckoslovak(sp)  tourists?

Good Story, Yeah, it would be nice to go back to the 60s and 70s when both sides would wave you on through, but since the 70s when Trudeau and his Hippie Liberals and Government implementing their Nancy "Give a Criminal a French Kiss between the Ass Cheeks" Laws in Canada, once implemented saw an explosion of criminal activity with little or no consequences for the criminal saw criminal elements such as Illegal smuggling of people across our borders, Drugs and Gun runners get a slap on the wrist by our far liberal left court system, not to mention  Canada and the US being a Mecca for illegals, pretty much nipped in the Bud by the US tired of using taxpayers dollars to staff borders exponentially when compared to Canada Customs and Immigration.

Not to babble on, but when one country fails to pull up their bootstraps and stop crime in its tracks, it leaves a sour taste in your southern neighbours mouth when they have to catch criminals, Canada releases time and time again.  Case in point Just Todat!!! Some Friggin Tw*t for brains Idiot Judge in BC dismissed all gun, drug charges against the entire Hells Angels when police had them dead to rights.  Makes you wonder which side the courts are on, cause it aint for the law abiding. News like this hits the States, who shake their head and go WTF??>?>

As for the Czech Republic, it is more to stop the Romas from entering our countries under false pretense, such as a visit, then immediately claiming refugee status.  Unfortunately many Roma, or as they are known as Gypsies seem to have a penchant for crime sprees and murder, drug running, hence why the Swiss and Italy want kick them out.

As for Mexicans, hard to understand why they are deemed illegal, because they lost a war with the US, granted they were here for 500 years or more, and are only illegal because of a lost Texas Battle against the US army in the 1800s, during the USAs infancy.

Ask yourself, if you were Mexican with all the corruption and death by their crooked society, would you want to live there?  At least the Czech Roma Gypsies have the entire European continent to immigrate to because of the EU, but it seems they have had the welcome mat pulled from themselves, wearing out their welcome with these countries, tired of their criminal crap.

So I guess to the victor go the spoils I guess.  Canada and the US for all their faults is still seen as the best place in the world to immigrate to, even by countries who hate us! Now you tell me if that isnt just F*&Ked Up?

There are concerns that this agreement could lead to foreign troops being used for gun confiscation and a martial law scenario.  Increasingly, the military is being used at sporting events, checkpoints and in some cases, in response to crime.  Foreign troops are participating in more training exercises on American soil.  Many military drills are also taking place in urban areas to further acclimate military presence on the streets.
