This is good news, but greedy members of OPEC seemingly think differently
Oil prices dropped below $70 a barrel for the first time in 14 months Thursday, prompting the OPEC cartel to call for an emergency meeting next week to establish some stability in prices that have plummeted recently after rising for months.

This might be of interest in light of the most recent Pres debate when both candidates promised to have the USA off Middle East oil within ten years:
Ken Verosub more or less says:
by the end of the next presidential administration, the USA will be almost entirely dependent on oil imports
Of course the USA is not a major importer of Middle East oil to begin with, so it gets confusing, but we shouldn't imagine that $70 crude will be a permanent kind of thing.

Went by the gasoline discount island today and noted regular slightly below $4 and diesel above $4. You might think Alaska, sitting on so much oil would be getting a Saudi type gasoline price, but it isn't happening.
