Old Lang Syne - Afghanistan
We coming to the time of year where we sing Old Lang Syne, please sing it with me now, dedicated and in the memory of all those that have died far away, from the shores of the lands they have loved and far away from those that loved them....
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
- CHORUS:
- For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine† ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
More about these very brave folks...
There have been 1,530 coalition deaths -- 931 Americans, 11 Australians, one Belgian, 237 Britons, 133 Canadians, three Czech, 28 Danes, 21 Dutch, six Estonians, one Finn, 36 French, 31 Germans, two Hungarians, 22 Italians, three Latvian, one Lithuanian, four Norwegians, 15 Poles, two Portuguese, 11 Romanians, one South Korean, 26 Spaniards, two Swedes and two Turks -- in the war on terror as of December 13, 2009, according to a CNN count. Below are the names of the soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors whose deaths have been reported by their nation's governments. The list also includes two U.S. Defense Department civilian employees. The troops died in support of the U.S.-led Operation Enduring Freedom or the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. At least 4,640 U.S. personnel have been wounded in action, according to the Pentagon.
May we never forget their bravery nor commitment each and every one for their country. Let not forget the ladies and gentlemen serving in the forces not just in Afghanistan but Iraq as well. Lets hope they stay safe, lets hope hope that they get home soon and safe.
My thoughts and heart goes out to the love ones of those who died in both conflicts and to those that suffered injuries that have and will effect their lives.

I think its needed, whilst new war plans are made and both of these wars are continuing though all eyes are on Afghanistan. Iraq is being questioned as not being a just war and more where killed there. Now how do they the politician justify a war that could of been won at the very beginning. Bin Laden was the target for revenge for 9/11 and other acts of terrorism.
The politicians needed to be reminded of these needless deaths and what they are proposing next. More good guys are going to die and what for Bin Laden?

Thanks for this, Babel-Fish. I also think we need to remember that Afghanistan and Iraq are not the only wars taking place in the world. A list of ongoing conflicts taking place around the world that continue to result in violent death to both civilians and military personnel.
Thanks again.
