1677 - No.1 Abington Street, Northampton. UK. One of the first buildings to be constructed following the Great Fire of Northampton of 1675.
No. 1 Abington Street and No.1 Market Square are part of the same building with the date of building recorded on the Abington Street face between the windows of bays 2 and 3 of the first floor . This grade II listed building has been carefully repaired and restored. The ground floor houses a modern shop whilst there is plaster facing to the 1st floor. The casement windows are in eared architrave surrounds linked by swags and paterae. The hipped Welsh slated roof covers an attic space with three 3-light dormer windows, two on the Abington Street side and one on the 5-bay Market Square side.
