Live Update
The buildup was tremendous. Governors from all of the states made speeches. Janet Napolitano marched out with her army in force to protect the homeland. “Mayor Bloomberg stood under his desk,” according to Letterman. Most significant, the President cut short his vacation on Martha’s Vineyard, presumably because he could not finish the back 9.
Here is the live update.

Don't tell the neighbors, we have six gallons of water and the bath tub is full.

I keep thinking something will happen, like flooding, or a crane will crash onto a Manhattan street. My wife and I are reliving our memories of living in New Orleans. I suspect there will be massive evacuee's remorse, much like what happened with Ivan, just before Katrina. What I find amazing is the free pass we give criminals who skimped on constructing the levees (nobody identified as the cause, although that person is known); much like the criminals of Wall Street who caused this ongoing financial crisis (many identified in the FCIC report to Congress, but the media buried that story).

I am with you on the levee criminality embedded in the US Army Corps of Engineers and their contractors.
