ONE POLICE PLAZA- THE NYPD plans to crackdown on drivers using cellphones while driving, Tuesday. Beggining at 12:01 a.m., an increased number of cops will be on the lookout for violators talking and texting behind the wheels. Motorists who talk without using a hands free device or text will recieve a $130 fine, sure to make you go WTF. During a crackdown in March, 6,882 summonses were issued, police said. In 2001, New York became the first state in the country to ban cell phones while driving.
