One of the biggest complaints was that of the Hoover free flight promotion. In the 90's Hoover ran a promotion to offer free flights to a number of European destinations, buy a Hoover product and get two free flights. Already in trouble over the Europe offer, Hoover thoiught they were doing so well, Hoovers were flying out the shops. Hoover bosses decided to start a much bigger second free flight offer to the USA. Hundreds of thousands of customers applied for free flights, only this time you had to spend £100 on a Hoover product. The second promotion remined applicants on the first Europe offer that they still did not have their tickets.  Two Hoover customers that begin to complain to Hoover were Sandy Jack a retired Headmaster and Harry Cichy a caterer, they joined forces and formed a pressure group, thoysands joined the two to complain. Sandy Jack was the first person in the UK, to take Hoover to court, a precident was set see Jack V Hoover Kircalldy Sherrifs Court 1993. Hoover's parent compant was the Giant Maytag Corpopration bases in Newton Iowa USA. Jack & Cichy with another colleague Lee Robertson headed out to Maytag's HQ and to complain at the Maytag AGM in Newton. Questions over the Hoover promotion had now been asked in Westminister & parliament itself. It was dicovered that Hoover had only actually purchased a handfull of flight seats. In a desperate attempt to regain credabilty Hoover started to purchase thousands of flight seats. The pressure of complaints organised by the Jack & Cichy's Hoover Holiday Pressure Group had coused Hoover and its parent maytag to purchase over 200,000 seats. Hoover court cases were running up and down the UK, many were settled by Hoover out of court. In the end the Hoover free flight promotion had cost Hoover and its parent over £100. million top bosses had had to leave and one of the largest corporate complaints.
