For one day each year the renowned 'Boekenmarkt', one of the largest annual book markets in Europe opens in the Netherlands. Literature and poetry abound, and there are special events for children.
Reading about Book Fairs takes me back to the Frankfurt Buchmesse that I had the privilege of getting invited to back in 1999. Held each year in October, it is the largest in the world.
Local as well as international book fairs are held in many countries. I wonder if there are any statistics available as to a surge of book readership in those countries where they are held. In Pakistan we hear parents and teachers blaming the Internet for the decline in book-reading.

Yeah, we have something with books in the Netherlands. Yesterday the largest Bookmarket in Europe (http://www.stichtingmilieunet.nl/andersbekekenblog/?p=3678) and we had the world largest bookmarket in Amsterdam (http://www.stichtingmilieunet.nl/andersbekekenblog/?p=3675).
In many other places in our country we have also simular kind of bookmarkets in the streets of the city.
