Yep 1984 came and went, despite Orwells prediction, but has surfaced in late 2009. One would think Politically Correct Police  would be out chasing Drug Dealers, Rapists, Murders, But NOooooooooooooo, it seems Crime in Ontario must be slim pickings for the Donut Snackin Goose Stepping Gestapo Cigarette Squad to Run Down a Trucker sucking back a smoke in his own rig.  Guess what? This ruling seems to apply to everyone even work at home stiffs, beware of cops and nosy neighbours peeking into your living room window while you tappity tap on your keyboard getting that report out. It will cost you big time!  Nice to see Ontario Taxpayers getting their moneys worth in all this, but beware, one unfair Law now will bring other non sensical laws to fruition in the future thanks to Liberal Leader Dalton "Finger up my Ass" McGuinty.

Ontario’s transportation minister was surprised by the first charge laid in the province against a trucker for smoking in his rig but the province’s health promotion minister hopes the incident will help convince more people to butt out.

Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a truck on Highway 401 near Windsor on Wednesday when the driver was seen smoking.

Police handed out a $305 ticket because the truck is his workplace and smoking is prohibited at all workplaces in Ontario.

That’s the way the law is supposed to work, said Health Promotion Minister Margarett Best.

Go figure.  This is taking it to the extreme.  This is the same crew that can't sort out e-Medical records.

First off I have to say, that's a Canadian issue, though I don't figure the USA is far behind in wild invasions of privacy. Hence I keep my shades drawn 24/7. If they ever try to fine me for something in my own home, they'll play hell trying to collect. And hey, they can't arrest EVERYONE for not paying a fine. This is one time when overcrowding in jails would be to one's advantage.

BTW, speaking of Nazis, Herman Goehring's grandson was my computer teacher in California, and he's as much of an A-**** as Herman was.

Lunacy! And I am making no excuses - but that isn't liberalism, in any shape or form, that is just simple madness.

I did a similar story yesterday, Barry - it's nuts!

This is really sick stuff! Perhaps American talk radio host, Michael Savage, has it right when he says, "Liberalism is a mental disease." What are the "health police" going to go after next?

This is pretty ridiculous and opens a whole new can of worms!

"You can't automatically assume that the act of smoking in a cab is illegal, because it may be perfectly legal depending on the company that that guy works for," Switzer said.

"If he's a company operating under the federal government legislation, as opposed to privincial government legislation, the Smoke-Free Ontario Act would not apply and the charges would not be proper. If he's an owner-operator and he's the only one who ever drives in that cab, probably the charge would not be valid either."

The Cynic is correct:  This nonsense and blatant invasion of rights to privacy and freedom and civil liberty is NOT liberal,  will never be liberal.  The people who create this litigation,  along with bizarre sex offender litigation and numerous other insane things simply are fascist and not liberal. (smkovalinsky posting)

The "health police" already has its claws in Massachusetts. The House today passed a measure to allow authorities to enter your home WITHOUT a search warrent and order you to get the H1N1 flu shot!  Oh...they haven't? read all about it at www.bostonherald.com. Beware who knocks on your door! If it is happening to our Canadian friends it is surely coming our way. A ticket for smoking. What was the trucker hauling...C-4 ?...LPG...then its a no brainer...if he was carting bubblegum or hand soap then that is wacked...
