Opinion: Obscene thoughts for a failed James Dobson....updated

The conservative right continues to be awash with embarrassment and go down the path of failure. James Dobson, a prominent fixture among believer in mysticism, and all that sanctifies the glorious war mongers, has sold his soul.  The holier than now, super Jesus freak has embraced John McCain. It has been an unraveling in the making of the conservative death grip on the Republican Party that has finally reached its zenith.    Education and science has quietly withered away at the conservative crush that came over the United States in the 1980’s and revealed it as the ugly monster it really is. American’s have come to realize that they can have religion without fundamentalism. The have come to understand that it wasn’t gays, feminists, and pagans that caused the attacks on September 11th, as Jerry Falwell so eloquently put it. And yes, the false proclamations made from that beleaguered demagogue, Pat Robertson, have brought little results. Quite possibly, Americans are tired of ingesting hateful epithets, waste filled diatribe, and anti-democratic rhetoric.             
            For years these apostles of waste have condemned innocent souls for their personal choice in life. They have called Catholic’s apostate, John Hagee; the have assailed “liberal” Christians, Rod Parsley; and they have called into eternal damnation entire cities, Pat Robertson. But the pen strokes written in books have enlightened Americans, and awoken them from their slumber. No more will American politics nominate xenophobes, racists, bigots, and hypocrites.

            James Dobson is the most recent of all the aforementioned, vile, and stench filled wretches to come forward and embrace Senator McCain. This is the same James Dobson that exclaimed, "I am deeply disappointed the Republican Party seems poised to select a nominee who did not support a Constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage, voted for embryonic stem-cell research to kill nascent human beings, opposed tax cuts that ended the marriage penalty, has little regard for freedom of speech, organized the Gang of 14 to preserve filibusters in judicial hearings, and has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language.” Well, now, James Dobson will have to take that pill and love it!

            Dobson has also said that he is "convinced Sen. McCain is not a conservative, and in fact, has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are. He has sounded at times more like a member of the other party. McCain actually considered leaving the GOP caucus in 2001, and approached John Kerry about being Kerry's running mate in 2004.  McCain also said publicly that Hillary Clinton would make a good president. Given these and many other concerns, a spoonful of sugar does NOT make the medicine go down.  I cannot, and will not, vote for Sen. John McCain, as a matter of conscience.” Guess what, Dobson, you will vote for him, because your threatening words fell on deaf ears. Dobson couldn’t rally the pack from under their rocks to come and tote their hate flags and vote for Mike “the world is flat” Huckabee. Not even the awesomeness of Chuck “the karate messiah” Norris could save his dwindling little underling.

            James Dobson’s temper tantrum, breath holding, foot stomping, pouting did nothing. And now he has to wave the white flag. That’s right; the crusade is over, back to the gutter. Dobson has brought this on himself; he was the one who said, “Should Sen. McCain capture the nomination as many assume, I believe this general election will offer the worst choices for president in my lifetime. I certainly can’t vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama based on their virulently anti-family policy positions. If these are the nominees in November, I simply will not cast a ballot for president for the first time in my life.” If he would have not pouted, and just kept quiet, I wouldn’t be writing this. He wouldn’t have provided the ammunition that will now lay him in his place. Lenin once said, “Capitalist will sell us the rope from which we will hang them.” The ilk of Dobson has sold us the words of which will condemn him with. Here’s to your soul, Dobson!
