A very senior former British diplomat, Peter Jay, has suggested tha Oprah Winfrey could be the next US ambassodor to Britain should Barack Obama become President.
Others feel that Caroline Kennedy the only surviving child of JFK would get the job under Obama.
Peter Jay, who served as British ambassador to the US when Jimmy Carter was president, made the comments as polls suggest Barack Obama is extending his lead in the race for the White House.
“It could be a perfectly sensible appointment,” Mr Jay told the Times. “You need someone who is close enough to the president to interpret events and get a message back to Washington. It would send a clear message about the new administration.”
Miss Winfrey, who is frequently described as the most powerful woman in television, is a prominent supporter of Mr Obama and rumours are growing that she would be willing to give up her TV career for public service
