A sizable fire started Saturday afternoon (14JUN08) just outside of Las Cruces, New Mexico in the Organ Mountains. The blaze is located on the edge of Dripping Springs State Park and Soledad Canyon. At the time I took these pictures BLM officials did not know a cause or the level of containment. While there, bystanders and myself were asked to move down Dripping Springs Road towards Las Cruces as the winds had shifted and the fire was moving slightly westward towards the road. A gentlemen I spoke to said the fire was approximately a mile from his house near Soledad Canyon.
The following picture was taken on the night of 14JUN08 from Soledad Canyon Road. I was about a mile from the fire; from this distance you could feel the heat coming off of it.

Fantastic photo. I didn't see the fire until the next afternoon so all I got was smoke!
