Oscar Arias: a woman for next President would be OK
Costa Rican President and Nobel Prize Oscar Arias said today that he will be glad that a woman could succeed him as next Chief of State of the country, on May 2010, as he back up designation of another woman, Janina Del Vecchio, as Minister of Security.
"There is nothing that I hate more than machism" Arias said to journalists at the end of celebration acts of the national holiday of Juan Santamaria, Costa Rica main historical heroe, as reported by local newspaper La Nación.
Even though he didn't mentioned names, some weeks ago Arias admited that he will accept Laura Chinchilla, actual vicepresident and Minister of Justica, as a possible candidate. The name of Chinchilla is strongly mentioned as a future candidate of official Liberación Nacional Party. She have not give any declarations about this topic.
