2008-09-09 12:49:03 -  BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - The party of ousted Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej says it has unanimously agreed to renominate him as candidate for prime minister.
The party met Tuesday immediately after the Constitutional Court ruled that Samak must resign for having violated the constitution by hosting TV cooking shows while in office. The decision is likely to inflame an ongoing political crisis. Anti-government protesters have occupied Samak's headquarters since Aug. 26 demanding his resignation. Samak party spokesman Kuthep Saikrajang says that the party members agreed to nominate Samak in Parliament as their candidate for prime minister. He said that the party still needs the support of the ruling six-party coalition and Samak himself.
