Outcome different in Aurora shooting had customers had guns
Had moviegoers in Century 16 Movie Theater been allowed to bring their registered concealed firearms into the Batman Movie with them, events might have ended up very differently in Aurora, Colorado.
In the wake of the Aurora shooting many questions remain unanswered and new ones seem to be popping up. For instance, what if moviegoers who had registered hand guns could have been allowed to bring their concealed weapons into the theater with them? How would this have impacted the slaughter that took place. Most people who carry concealed weapons permits are practiced hand gun users.
We’re not talking vigilante violence here, we are talking about the perfectly legal right for US citizens to protect themselves. There is a good chance that had those who had been allowed to keep their concealed hand guns within their possession during the Batman movie that they could have taken the killer out and, at the very least, minimized the carnage. Even with Aurora police there at the theater and exercising crowd control as the authorities claimed, it seems that our boys in blue were powerless to intervene.
Law enforcement impotency
You might recall during the Columbine shooting which went on for hours that the police did not enter the building until well after the victims were dead or severely wounded. Yet, we are told time and time again as house invasions go on undaunted, as drug cartel gangs bring their violence from the south of the border into our towns, and pedophiles abduct our children off playgrounds that the police continually advise against us defending ourselves. How many elderly couples could have been saved had they known how to use a firearm and had one within reach once these fiends had broken into their homes? Yet, the government, the authorities, those who constantly tell us they know better what’s good for us than we do, tell us not to own firearms?
The 2nd Amendment
America has a Constitution which not only guarantees personal freedoms but the rights of an individual being intruded upon by big oppressive government, but those rights are in question under the Obama administration’s continued attacks. In a free society there is always a risk of those who will abuse those freedoms, but we must not be misled into submitting ourselves to the iron fisted illusion of a police state that promises we’ll be safe because that too is not only an illusion, but a lie. Just ask yourself how many times law enforcement has been effective at intervening in mass shootings, drive by shootings, or even the flash mobs we saw in Chicago that were actually organized online?
World Trade Center tragedy inspires more gun sales
After 9-11 there was an actual increase in firearm sales amongst the general public. I wonder why? Maybe it had to do with our very own intelligence agencies not sharing information with each other and, thus allowing a catastrophe occur that could have been avoided. Maybe some people also believing that 9-11 was simply an inside job, a Machiavellian event designed to justify a massive military expeditionary operation in the Middle East. That lack of trust led them to purchase what they saw as the only guaranteed form of protection! In view of the fact that our government seems incapable of protecting us all the time and even when AG Eric Holder refuses to allow our borders to be protected from the incursions of the drug cartel, illegal aliens, and even terrorists, is it any wonder that people are now choosing to arm themselves?
Who can you trust
The tragic shooting at Century 16 Theater in Aurora, Colorado tends to reinforce the notion among many of us of the failure of our law enforcement, educational institutions, our medical community, and even the institution of the American family. In view of this failure of society to provide reasonable security for its citizens while discouraging them from self protection presents an ironic paradox and the typical government double speak that sends a message to us. “We are in control. Don’t take it upon yourself to do our job even though we don’t do that job very well.”
The nunmber 1 deterrent
The most important implication of allowing citizens to carry their own concealed firearms is that if the criminal knows that there are potential obstructions to his sadistic designs among the sheep that he preys upon the threat alone presents a deterrent to many if not all potential disturbed lone gunmen, which I believe is a myth invented by authorities to explain a more insidious explanation.
Personally, I am not a weapons advocate. I don’t feel the need to hunt animals. I would never kill an animal unless I was starving. I think it is unfortunate and disappointing that in our modern supposedly enlightened society that these atrocities continue to happen. It is not as simple as it appears. There are unseen forces that fuel gun violence aside from typical criminal activity and the “Lone Gunman scenario.”
Allowing tyranny is not the answer
One thing is for sure. Allowing the government to legislate more laws that limit our freedoms, monitor our movements, and track our purchases is not only ineffective but impotent. Yet, it only serves to give an emerging new world order the ability to push our nation beneath the control of foreign powers. This is the only point that I concur with the Occupy Movement on.
