Oxfordshire boy dies in storm drain

A teenager who was playing with a group of youths has fallen into a storm drain in Oxfordshire, UK and died. Oxfordshite was the hardest hit country during heavy rain on Sunday, which caused flash flooding across South England. Media reports have said the teenagers were playing in the rising flood waters.

A 17-year-old boy drowned after getting trapped in a storm drain inOxfordshire, police said today.

The teenager was playing with a group of young people in a field off EastfieldRoad, Witney, when he got trapped by rising floodwaters between 8.15 and8.30pm last night.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: “The boy got trapped beneath aconcrete culvert in a flooded area. Emergency services attended and the boywas taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he was pronounced dead.”

Another boy rescued in the same incident is receiving treatment forhypothermia.
