As Sticky the cat settles in to her forever home, the PA SPCA finds another case of cruelty. This time a kitten doused with lighter fluid and lit on fire. The kitten has superficial burns on over half her body, she has 3rd degree burns on her right ear.
Even her whiskers have been intentionally burned off. She is now getting the help she needs and is recovering. The SPCA is hoping a new family is in her future and they don't want to wait too long before placing her, since
she is still showing signs of being affectionate in spite of the horrific abuse she has suffered. The kitten was found around 5:30 Saturday evening, in Chester, PA and there apparently is a suspect in custody already. This is the 3rd case of animal cruelty, PA SPCA has had in 2 weeks.
On Monday, Port Richmond school bus driver, Bill Mitchell threw a bag that contained 3 kittens off the back of a school bus. It was at a stop and a witness heard a thunk and went out to investigate. She found the bag with three kittens. She put the kittens in a box with a blanket and she called the Police. The PA SPCA said the kittens are under nourished and had a bad case of fleas but are expected to be ready for adoption soon.
The school bus driver has been with the the school district for 4 years and has had no other complaints. He was issued 3 citations that are fines of $750.00 each.
Anyone who sees an animal in trouble is asked to call the SPCA right away. Pennsylvania SPCA (215) 426-6300. New Jersey SPCA 800-582-5979 Delaware SPCA (302) 998-2281

Hi LCoastMom!
ahhhh, this is so sad...between all who abuse/kill their children to those that are cruel to pets, i just can't take it anymore!!!...seriously what is the matter with people!!!
I work out in the field which for the most part i love...the part i hate is how much neglect i witness towards animals....animals chained in yards, animals wandering around because people dump them so on and so on...it breaks my heart...and the stories you hear in the news, like the one a few days ago where someone had taped up a cat with duct tape...and how about the guy who shot his family last week and before turning the gun on himself he aslo shot the family dog (i know you are probably wondering what guy as there are so many stories out there now ) i think it was back east somewhere.
take care...ttyl

I agree Nurse the stories are heart breaking. I just don't understand people who do this. You don't like cats? Fine, don't get one.
The SPCA officer said it took the duct tape guy a long time to wrap that kitty. He said it was slow methodical work. Then it took a team an hour to cut all the tape off!! That cat had been wrapped up for over 12 hours. In that time she had managed to free 1 paw.
The pictures of her just lying in the grass, look like she had given up.
I have heard where the officer said the young man is very regretful for what he did. I'm not buying his apology. What else could he say once he was caught?? If he was sorry he had 12+ hours to do something about it. What did he do? He put her in a plastic bag and tossed her in a neighbors yard, so he didn't have to hear her screams. He was sorry she made so much noise. He was sorry he was caught.
