Pakistan agrees to get counterinsurgency training from US

A long-delayed plan to receive dozens of United States military advisers to Pakistan to train the army in counter-insurgency can begin in a matter of weeks under a new agreement on a training base, official sources here said Saturday.

The sources said that military and government authorities have cleared with the US the remaining obstacles to the arrival of the advisers.
