Pakistan army preparing to take back Swat, defeat terror all cost
Finally Pakistan army wakes up. In an attempt to regain the confidence of US and other western countries, Pakistan Army started moving against the Taliban in Swat - Army Chief Parvez Kayani claimed that the country "will defeat terrorism."
Earlier US Secretary of States, Hillary Clinton told Pakistan to worry about the Taliban terrorists rather than looking at India as a threat if Pakistan wants the foreign aid. This might have been a wake up call for the Army which was so far ignored Taliban who were threatening to take control of entire Pakistan.
Amid reports of Pakistani military mobilising forces for an operation in the Taliban-dominated Swat valley within 48 hours, Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Friday vowed to defeat terrorism "at all cost".
In his first public comment on the spread of the Taliban from Swat to Buner district near Islamabad, the powerful army chief said his forces are "determined to root out the menace of terrorism from society" with the support of the people.
"Victory against terror and militancy will be achieved at all cost," gen. Kayani told his commanders from militancy-hit areas in NWFP and the tribal belt at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi near here.
"It (the army) will not allow the militants to dictate terms to the government or impose their way of life on the civil society of Pakistan," he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the military.
His strong comments came as military sources were quoted by Dawn News channel as saying that the operations against the militants in Swat were "on the cards" and a troop build-up would be completed for this within 48 hours.

No, IA. My doubt is not about the Pakistani army. My doubt is rather about what the people of Pakistan want and are willing to do to have freedom and modernity, a secular government and so on.

People of Pakistan?
They just want to eat wheat bread and some meat, watch some movies or listen to songs, go to shopping, play, maybe pray to god etc - the kind of things normal people do.They don't care much about the color or tag of the government. They just want to live normal life - I think.
I would like Hussain or Amaad to have a authentic say on this. Or any one who live(ed) in that country.

Exactly!

I think what you stated in one of your comments under this story is true to some extent and needs only addition that Pakistanis want the outsiders to let the Pakistani government deal with the problem and avoid dictating their terms. Moreover, they also want the foreign troops to leave Afghanistan for a last peace in the region as well as they desire that Afghanistan, Russia, India and others stop training terrorists to unleash death and destruction in Pakistan.

Ido not doubt the army but the Pakistan government is split and weak. I doubt they will have the resolve to complete the mission.

You can't get to "eat wheat bread and some meat, watch some movies or listen to songs, go to shopping, play, maybe pray to god etc - the kind of things normal people do" without a lot of sacrifice when needed and a lot of effort when needed.
The problem of battling a radical traditional religion within your own country is a big one.
This is not a criticism of Pakistanis, of whom I have only known a few (such as the guy who built my computer!).

What I intended to say was, the ordinary Pakistani does not want to go to jihad or become a suicide bomber or kill infidel kind or stuff. Only certain brainwashed soul(less)s go in that direction. With all the bells and whistles they got a "democratically elected" government last time. The people expected the government to do minimum things those are expected of governments. Now I guess people are angry and lost hope in the way the Swat was handed over to Taliban - virtually in a platter - by the government.
Maybe the Army who have already tasted blood would have turned a blind eye towards the creeping Taliban and waited till the time the problem exploded in the face of the civilian government.

IA, I understood you perfectly. The people have a "live and let live" attitude.
This is always the problem with the Golden Rule. Modern people often indulge themselves in believing that when there is hostility, it is the result of trampling on the Golden Rule on their part, and even when such trampling may have been unintentional, unconscious and would certainly never call for extreme measures such as having someone fly a plane into your building.
What to do with those who have no intention of doing unto you as you would do unto them in your effort to fulfill the Golden Rule?
They pose a problem without end because to be able to live your life, you have to do unto them things you don't want to do unto others.
This brings on guilt and shame and opens you up to paranoia as you examine your conscience as to what it could be that has aroused such hostility. Even knowing that you can no longer tolerate being abused brings on guilt, as if you could save everyone from the folly of not following the Golden Rule..

Pakistan is the only country has nuclear weapon, but no continuous electricity to their people. Pakistan can't eradicate Polio since they can store polio vaccines. Politicians definitely got their priorities screwed up.
Now the spreading disease of Taliban is within 60 miles of Pakistan's nuclear facility. Do you need anything greater to worry about global safety ?
I don't think the world should leave this mission to Pakistan politicians. Spreading Taliban into Pakistan is too much of a global threat to leave it up to these dummies. It is also sad to see all the effort and lives put into Afghanistan is just taking a different form and larger damage in Pakistan due to the absence of strong politicians and the real desire to root out Talibans.

Pakistan army will never be able to contain Taliban nor U.S.. Taliban is running in their blood and outside. Blame those who have created the environment and circumstances turning a peaceful non-alligned people into such deadly bigots. Push people to the wall and force them to act in certain way , blame them and kill them. U.S U.S I say U.S.
I want to see who would win, The Weak who would inherit the heaven or the pharoah gone beserk by multifarious greed and adventure.

Pakistan is an Islamic moderate country that is a responsibile nuclear power. Her nation icluding Pakistan Armed Forces and inteligence agancies are fighting against foriegn sponsered consiperacy. Its perception prevailing in Pakistan that US and India is supporting anti Pakistan eliments which are part of Taliban and storming terrorism in the country. Lets hope Washington ,if seroius in elimination terrorism from the world then CIA, RAW ,Mossad and RAAM should be stopped from interfering in Pakistan's Internal affairs. Pakistan Armed forces and its intelligence agencies are capapble enough to tackle the situation and eradication of evil from th bid.
