Pakistan Army: (Professional) Men at their best
It would be an undermining of facts if I start praising Pakistan Army (PA) without accounting for their mistakes that they did make in the last 61 years. It's true that PA's always indulging into the Pakistan's political scenario has always remained a curse for Pakistan from all dimensions, but, the times have changed, the men once criticized heavily for their intrusions into Pakistan's politics are back in business, back to where they belong, the mighty barracks.
Two years back, when i left this mighty profession, people's rage against PA was at it's peak but now the things have started calming down. Now, the good old days are back when everyone loved PA and the whole credit, for this wind of change, goes to the new army chief. I remember, when General Kayani took oath as the new Army Chief, almost everyone was of the view that he would be the same like his predecessor-General Musharraf. But, i used to defend him at that time because i knew, with reference to my friends in PA, that he is a professional soldier and so did he prove to be.
Also, the way he is stewarding PA nowadays is remarkable. Today, in an operational meeting in GHQ, presided by him, he made it clear that PA isn't fearing Taliban. Remember, it's the Taliban which fears PA because after-all PA is it's Daddy, PA taught them to fight, they still use the tactics taught to them by the PA. And, Pakistan Army never surrendered, as people have perceived after the peace pact with Taliban, it was just meant because things that can be resolved through dialogue shouldn't be determined through warfare. But, I think Taliban perceived the other way, they have forgotten that those who can train them exhibit the capability to dismantle them too, Pakistan is way far good than Taliban in terms of spirit, tactics, resources and everything needed to bring about warfare with such sort of brain-washed idiots.
Now, the time has come to show those Tallies what the daddy has got for his disobedient son who is taking help from Daddy's enemies.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired an operational meeting at the General Headquarters here on Friday.
While addressing the participants, Kayani stated that he was aware of the doubts being voiced about the intent as well as the capability of the Army to defeat the militancy in the country. He made it clear that Pakistan Army never has and never will hesitate to sacrifice, whatever it may take, to ensure safety and wellbeing of people of Pakistan and country’s territorial integrity.
The COAS stated that operational pause, meant to give the reconciliatory forces a chance, must not be taken for a concession to the militants. He declared that Army’s rank and file has resolve to fight to eliminate the militants, who endanger the lives of peaceful citizens of the country and challenge the writ of the State. He reassured the people of Pakistan that with their support, Army is determined to root out the menace of terrorism from the society. It will not allow the militants to dictate terms to the government or impose their way of life on the civil society of Pakistan.
He condemned pronouncements by outside powers raising doubts on the future of Pakistan. A country of 170 M resilient people under a democratic dispensation, strongly supported by the Army, is capable of handling any crisis that it may confront. He stated that the victory against the terror and militancy would be achieved at all cost.
