As  reported earlier on NowPublic top taliban Mullah Baradar has been arrested in Karachi in a joint CIA and Pakistan operation. This is a major breakthrough not only in terms of the actual capture but also in terms of co-operation between the US and Pakistan. Pakistan appears to be ready to get tioughr with taliban terrorists within its borders reports The Guardian..Sources within Pakistan believe that Pakistan sees a peaceful Afghanistan as adding strategic depth to Pakistan's international standing. It seems that Pakistan are now more willing than ever to broker talks between the taliban and the US indicating a real shift in relations.

Pakistan's powerful military is ready to move aggressively against the Taliban, it was claimed tonight after news broke that the organisation's top military commander, Mullah Baradar, had been arrested in a dramatic operation in Karachi.
