Pakistan Plane Crash: No Survivors, Crashes Near Margalla Hills
It is the worst aviation disaster in Pakistan's history with all 152 passengers and crew being killed on a Airblue Airbus A321 flight en route from Karachi to Islamabad.
Richard Snelsire, a spokesman for the U.S. Embassy here, said two Americans were among the dead. Their names were not released, and no additional information about them was available.
The doomed plane departed Karachi at 7:50 a.m. (10:50 p.m. Tuesday in Washington) for the two-hour flight to Benazir Bhutto International Airport in the capital.
Though the exact cause of the Airblue crash in Pakistan is yet to be determined the Airbus A321 was flying during a heavy monsoon rain.
Hashim Raza Garvaizi, a captain for Pakistan International Airlines, told GEO television that the airport’s runway had instruments that would allow planes to land even in weather conditions that offered zero visibility. Mr. Garvaizi said that he knew the pilot and that he had an impeccable record. He speculated that the plane could have been struck by lightning or that wind currents could have caused it to dip lower than expected.
Friends and relatives crowded Islamabad's airport waiting from word about the fate of the passengers as rescue helicopters scoured the dense Margalla Hills two hours outside of Islamabad but official word came that indeed there were no survivors.

I live very close to the Margalla Hills and at the time of the crash there were very low clouds covering these hills and it was also raining but there was no thunderstorm which could have been harmful to the aircraft. The Captain of the plane was certainly a pilot of repute, the Aircraft was a fly by wire, one of the most modern and equipped with most sophisticated navigational instruments including a ground proximity warning system. The Airport was equipped with instrument landing system, then what irks the mind is how could this happen?the Margalla hills were covered with low clouds but visibility around the airport and elsewhere in Islamabad and Rawalpindi was not Poor, Planes landed before and after the crash. If the Margalla hills were not visible, they are never visible during the night when a lot of Air traffic lands and takes off, How do they aviod the Margalla Hills during darkness? The Answer is RADAR! which monitors and guides all the incoming and outgoing Air traffic and the Pilots depend and rely on the instructions of the RADAR during poor visibility.Unfortunately the RADAR operator in this case has tried to wrigle out of this by giving conflicting statements, viz a. That it had warned the pilot of the Margalla Hills but the Pilot replied that he was visual with the runway. If this is what he heard then all the more reason he should have told the pilot to pull up where ever he was!becasuse he could see on his screen exactly where the plane was and also his altitude and proximity to Margalla hills and No Fly zone. Have we forgotten the Jumbo which was about to erroneously land on the Islamabad Highway a few years ago and the RADAR averted the disaster by ordering the Jumbo to pull up werever he was.CONCLUSION NO -1. The RADAR was sleeping. If the pilot was on the ATC frequency, the Radar should have got onto Guard Frequency and interrupted to warn the Pilot. b. Why is the RADAR and ATC silent on having kept the AirBlue Plane on Hold?Is it not a common Practice to accord priority to PIA by keeping other planes on hold ? and when planes are kept on hold they are given an area and altitude to keep circling. c. The Airblue plane was flying from Karachi to Islamabad,it must have submitted a flight plan before getting Airborne, then why is it being said that the Plane was flying from Turkey? I do smell a Rat in this affair and unfortunately it is responsible oficials who seem to make a scape goat of a very experienced Pilot who besides being a professional was also a deeply religious person I mean to sttress that he could never have been under influence of Drugs etc. 156 lives have been lost, but those responsible forget that by telling lies to cover up the facts we are earning for ourselves the Wrath of the Almighty, For he Knows what we Hide.

The media should be flogged for the irresponsible and insensitive reporting. In their desire to get "exclusive" and breaking news coverage, they totally treated the situation as if they were talking about animals and not human beings.Dr. Shahid (the biggest ignorant rude deviant) and his pompous second rate goons on ARY should be thrown out of the media for their pathetic attempt at becoming instant experts as well as looking for conspiracy theories without a moment spared for the dead and their relatives who were subjected to the worse form of journalism possible.Experts who did not know what they were talking about, officials who were trying to hedge their bets so as not to look bad and unsubstantiated information used as the truth!I was sick to see the way the grieving relatives, sons and daughters, wives and mothers, sisters and brothers, fathers and uncles, grandparents and friends were misled, mishandled and misinformed. At times like this our MAIN focus should be to care for the departed, provide care and solace for the relatives and come together as one to grieve and offer strength ... the inquiries will take place, the truth will come out or not and the theories will fly ... but now was not the right time for all the circus and personality image building of these mad media people who are nothing more than crude and rude thugs!

Dear Kaiser Hameed Khan ,Nasir Malik and Pakistani Friends,I fully endorse your views on the subjectIt is really shocking to hear about the very sad incident and the tragic loss of life.May God bless the departed souls and may they rest in peace,Amen!.I had travelled to Pakistan in the same very aircraft from Manchester to Islamabad with late Captain Pervez about two months back.I came across the deceased Captain Pervez at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Manchester at breakfast (where the Airblue crew also stay),and found him to be .an exceptionally decent ,and a very knowledgable person with an impressive flight record in PIA.The next evening we tookoff from Manchester for Turkey and inspite of very turbulent and wet weather Capt Pervez made an excellent textbook landing at Trabzon, which itself is a very difficult airport located in the mountainous north of Turkey.Since yesterday I have been watching your TV channels and have been really SHOCKEDand saddened by the unprofessional guess work by Psudo intellectuals and senior Government Ministers and officials who used the deaths of their brothers and sisters to manage their media campaigns.Your electronic media and various anchor persons too shockingly managed their own shows with total disregard to journalistic ethics, with exceptional theories without any knowledge of Aviation rules or procedures. The MD of PIA,himself a pilot and probably a colleague of the deceased pilot against all ethics of aviation, declared Pilot error WITHOUT even having heard the cockpit conversations or waited for the Flight Data Recorder.I wonder what would he have said if it were one of his airliners---probably----Lets wait for the inquiry report!!!!!!!how unfortunate to have such guttless people at such positions. As regards the radar They are supposed to be equipped with dual channel radios and the controller should have Shouted his Gutts out if he saw this aircraft deviating dangerously close to high terrain, even if he got an answer that the runway was visual.I guess and smell something fishy with what I have witnessed so far.The Black Box which has misteriously disappeared after being recovered shall never be found.Even Airbus was found guilty in changing blackboxes of their crashed demonstration A320,which resulted in manslaughter sentences against their own pilots.A courageous Captain however fought the case and exposed the culprts.(refer to A320 crash 1988).Dead men shall ultimately be blamed and blacksheep shall live to be heroes.A nation that does not honour its dead shall ultimatelyand unfortunately see the same fate.My advice to you all as a nation, please make sure and raise your voices to locate the cockpit voice recorders and the Blackbox, for they can only confirm wether there was a third occupant in the cockpit who played a part in sending the aircraft to its demise or bring out the actual flaw in the system or avert future disasters.regards D.R. I fully and whole heartedly agree with each and every word written by Mr Nisar Malik in his so well worded comments.I was rather surprised to see Dr. Masood talking so irresponsibly, and at times smiling and passing sarcastic remarks on experts views. Our media must try to learn how they are supposed to conduct and must get rid of such anchor persons.

I am also sadden by this news. I really don't have any idea what happens but no one in the plane wanted to be dead. Now all blames on dead pilot and save on ground buddies and hide the truth, back box lost. This job is done by big brothers of pakistan PPP. This is natural disastor and allah forgive all the dead brothers & sisters and give us strength to over come our country corrupted politicans and show them their deeds in this world. May we all pray together as today is friday and allah show mercy on all these passengers.

A.O.AThis is very sad incident.May Allah forgive them all and their souls rest in heaven.Their were too many worst incidents like this, in the history of our country but unfortunately the Facts remains behind the curtain mysteriously But this time facts should b Presented in front of the Nation and responsible persons should b Hanged.

I am grateful to MR. Dean Rullo of UK, who has complimented the professionalism of the Captian of the ill fated plane. Shamefully only a few of our own countrymen have spoken for the Captain of the illfated Plane. Sadly enough it is here in our beloved country where our officials in the hope of a better life prefer to tell lies and put the blame on the ones who no longer live. Times have changed we have internet and vounteers all over the world who offer free advice on the net. Since the Black box has mysteriously disappeared there is little hope of a fair investigation. I suggest all the relatives of the victims of this crash get togethet to make a blog to seek opinion of aviation experts and then sue the responsible persons who failed to avert this disaster. We should remember that the ground control monitors movement and location of all aircraft in the airspace that they control. This is the ambit of the Civil Aviation Authority who are so self centred that that have unamously levied a TAX on the entry of passengers at the Airports on the plea of improving the services.Unfortunately we do not have the time to ask them what they have done with the millions that they have collected so far.I hope they are made to answer for this aswell! I have mentioned this here to show how greedy a particular organisation can get to generate finances by fleecing the already heavily taxed public to supplement their extravagant ways, and then there is no accountability. This is because the Civil Aviation Authotity hides behind the skirt of the Ministry of Defence. I am sure the integrity of the Actual Defence Personnel has not degraded to this extent. This is the time to bring these public servants to the book and if found guilty they must be casheered in public. Public Safety demands ruthless actions and not impunity, we must make public events which are even embarrasing to our high ups then only would we be able to boast of Professional integrity.. One of the survivors of the 1986 Fokker Crash in Peshawar sued the Authorities for Rs.20 Million, he was called seperately and an out of court settlement was made with him. We should aim at ensuring that such incidents are not allowed to recurr, therefore a collective action against the concerned responsible for this incident should be taken by the relatives of the victims of this incident. This suggestion is not aimed at any vindication but to break the monoply of the official misleading Mafia which forces us to believe their version of lies and ultimately leads to greater future accidents.

The incident is realy very tragic we all pray that the departed souls may rest in eternal peace there are certain querries boggling the mind firstly who were the 2 Americans travelling on the plane and why isnt their identity not yet disclosed secondly why the plane was instructed to land from pindi side whereas actually it had to land from kahuta side and lastly the area is not that very difficult that the black box is still missing these are certain points that need to be clarified hope there wasnt any controversy or terrorrist activity behind the tragic incident

I strongly agree with Mr. Dean Rullo. How such an experienced pilot got into a no flying zone? As well as the pilot was told to remain in a radius of 5 kilometers from the airport and he took the plane straight away to the Margalla's which is almost about 18 kilometers from the airport how could the pilot violate airtraffic control and how can he be so much wrong or mistaken to take the plane thrice the distance as he was told to maintain the height the plane was maintaining was was somewhat 2600ft and the height of margalla is 2800 ft approximately there's something fishy. Finally the black box is recovered but we hope so and we should raise our voices and media should alsoplay its role to bring this investigations to public or like always happens the investigation reports will end up in the presence of 4 or 5 members they will either say there was some technical problem or bad weather or will easily blame the dead pilot because he cannot come and cannot clarify himself and tell what really happened there. It's not the first time that there existed any clean & satisfactory investigation like the plane crash in which chief of air staff Mushaf Ali Mir died and the plane crash in 2006 all these investigations were carried out and there results were not published or either vanished with time.. May ALLAH show mercy on all the passed passnegers in this tragic incidents..

Dear All I am totally agreed and fully endorse the views of Mr. Nisar Malik , Tariq Ansari and others on the same subject. it was a tragedy, it was really a big tragedy in the history of Pakistan. Our Interior minister Mr. Rehman Malik soon after the deadly crash appeared on media and spread the rumor of rescue of 5 passengers (he is famous for such typrof rumors after such big incidents in the country) the report was totally a baseless and I think it was not his mistake. a person reporting from his bedroom do the same. Now coming to the 21st century scientist and philosopher Dr Shahid Masood who presented his theory of consipiracy soon after the crash. I must say that he is totally a mad person, a person who do his PhD become almost a mad. this was the time to share the griefs of the bereaved families and if we can not able to share their griefs so at least we should never sprinkle salt over thier wounds. this was not the fault of anyone actually the plane amd all the passengers were ill fated and it was written in thier fates and what is written that has to happen. so I would request our Scientists to do their cheap popoularity campaign in some other way and if they are interested in becoming a scientist and presenting theories ao they should present theories about other fileds like atom and missles ets which our country need/ but for God sake do not play with people emotions. Just think of th ebereaved families who lost thier dear ones in such tragic way. how they will be bearing such losses nowadays.I pray that may Almight Allah bestow upon patience and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude and May Almighty protect the Muslim Ummah and Pakistan from such tragedies in future.May their souls rest in eternal peace. Ameen

well the info related to PIA retired captian is completely wrong. There was no instrument on the airport that allows landing in zero visibility. I suspect the other info also

why our government not telling the public about the accurate reasons about the accident and where is the black box of the air craft and where is the information of the black box. This shows that our government knows about the reasons and now hiding the facts. If it is not as then why the government is silent on the death of 152 peoples?Anyone is there who give the answer.

Sirf Prime minister house ki waja say itni janoun ko marna para, yah kaisa principle hay , agar koi security banti bhi hay tou kam az kam plane ko nichay utarnay datay aur phir security main unahain bahar lay jatay lekin Pakistan main koi decision nahi lay sakta , woh bus uper aur uper kay orders ka intizar kartay hain. yahn koi chotay say chotay problem ka bhi decision nahi lay sakta tou woh tou phir plane tha , pakistan main kabi kisi usool ko follow kia gya hay, kabi nahi, yahan par bus jis kay pas lathey hoti hay ussi ka zati constitusion hota hay, bus phir wohi apni marzi kay faislay karta hay.
